I'm doing my driving test soon hopefully (just awaiting a cancellation date) and i'm getting married in September. I want to change my name so i was planning to wait to get my new licence in my new name. Is that possible? Does the certificate of competency last that long or do i need to get my new licence asap?

There are 2 ways u can do it.
    1) first do the test in your current name, pass it and then get him to write the cert in your married name ( you will need a marraige licence to show him)

    2) Your can get your new surname put on your licence when your go and get your new licence (touch wood)

[Ah cool if there is no fee that's grand I thought it was like the passport where I had to cough up all over again. Are you sure about that? Seems like too good a deal to be true from dublin city council??
