Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It is just a RAWK rumour. Take it with a very large pinch of salt.

The medical was delayed due to him getting to Liverpol late as a flight was delayed.

Some are trying to make out that he did not pass the medical when in fact he was not even there to have it. It is being held today instead of yesterday.

the text is about todays medical, not one that was meant to take place yesterday tho

Well I am very doubtful on the rumour given that about three people on RAWK claim to have recived texts and also people on TLW and a couple of other LFC sites are claiming exclusive texts.

The Echo is not a good source tbh as it normally just uses info that can be found elsewhere and claims it as an exclusive.

I lived in Liverpool long enough to treat it as just a local tabloid.

Except when it's from Tony Barrett whose word is golden to many on here?

Tony Barrets word is golden :D

Helix's "source" in the Echo however, did provide nice comic relief with the numerous awful inside knowledge last summer.

Tony barrett now writes for The Times.

No, you right he wrote the Echo's Espanol match report

Here's a decent video of some Aquilani moments. He seems to have a good shot on him, and his passing seems very good. It doesn't look like he dwells too long on the ball so hopefully that will help in his transistion to the premier league.

given that the medical is today i think its fair to say if we havent got confirmation of the deal later tonight or early tomorrow morning then theres been some issues.

i'm sure a fair bit of research has gone into the whats and whys of his injuries before we even bid for him.

i'd expect to see the deal go through later on today and i'd imagine he hasnt had the same medical degan passed last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,095 ✭✭✭zing

I remember one signing last year or the year before where nothing was announced for a couple of days after the medical had been completed. There were no complications afaik - just for whatever reason the player didn't put pen to paper - or maybe the paper wasn't put in front of him - for a couple of days. I wouldn't panic if there's no word until Mon or Tues.

The Lucas/Corinthians story is something that was discussed briefly about 20 pages ago. He has admitted speaking to Corninthians (though he didnt speak to the S*n, as their article would lead you to believe - seen it reported in more than one place this morning - "Lucas told the S*n...." ).

It seems he wants first team football, presumably to improve his chances of international football. Whether he'd be a loss for us or not would be down to who replaces him. Duffour would be better for example, but would Cattermole?

I was convinced that Mascherano/Lucas was a disasterous midfield combination because there was so little creativity between them. Their partnership for the first 2/3rd of last season produced really poor results - 6 league games they started together (mostly against the poorer teams) and only 1 win, v a hapless Newcastle. Not (even nearly) good enough.

But in the closing couple of months of the season they started 4 games together, and we won all 4, so that would indicate that its a partnership that could well work.

I would expect nothing until at least Monday in terms of the deal being announced as being done and dusted with the medical being passed.

Is Aquaman naturally left of right footed. For clips I seen he appears to be left footed yet has a very decent right as well?

I just noticed that the Athletico match is only down as "TBC" for live streaming on the Liverpool web site, does anybody know if it's on TV at all??

The splash page of lfc.tv says that it isn't available live in the UK and a few other eastern european countries.

So while it is sad to see such a rare talent as Alonso leaving the English game, Liverpool fans may well console themselves that Chelsea and Manchester United have dominated football in England in recent times without the services of a specialist midfield playmaker in the Alonso mould.

    Good point there.

Not the same type of player. Carrick is more dynamic, gets into each box more, and not the same range of passing...

Aquaman has passed his medical according to fivelive

    edit
    http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N165347090807-1933.htm
Liverpool FC confirmed this evening that Alberto Aquilani has successfully completed a medical and agreed a 5-year contract with the club.
The player will now continue his rehabilitation from an ankle operation under the guidance of Liverpool's medical team and is expected to be fully fit in approximately 4-8 weeks time.

    Right who's next

He passed his medical despite not being fit..

    I feel like Aston Villa.

any idea of his squad number yet? Interested to see if rafa thinks he's worthy of the number 7 shirt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,146 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

I'm hoping he takes the number 6.

Would like the 7 kept for an out and out attacker. I've still got all my fingers and toes crossed for Luis Suarez, even though he seems adamant about staying at Ajax for one more year. If we did get him i think we'd immediately become first choice for the league, would add a lot of extra goals into the team between Aqua and Suarez and some seriously quick direct attacking play. Please Rafa, please!

4-8 weeks? Hadn't realised he wasn't actually fit! How do you fail a medical then??

A bit funny that some people were apprehensive because of his injurys and we signed him still recovering from one
20mil(reportedly) on a player to play a key role and he's out for maybe up to 8 weeks? Rafa must really rate him....

Just watched it. Was very enjoyable, even if I couldn't understand a word nando said! Who was the completely incoherent ex pool player attempting to give an interview? He looked like he was completely pissed!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Which one?! Michael Robinson? He's been in Spain so long he probably can't speak English too confidently any longer :p

Nandos English is actually good, his thick accent is the problem. Someone should get Sue Johnston in to show him how to project. She could work on Stevie as well ;)
