It scares me when people use the player's first name.

    why ?

    this is scary

His ball in from the right wing yesterday was as good as any Beckham has produced.
yes it was but fletch is hardly known for that stuff tbf

What do you think of James McCarthy - Wigan? I've watched a few games and looks a really good player considering his age. I think Wigan can expect a few bids in the summer.

Just out of interest the turning point with regards to fans opinion on Fletcher came after he put in a majestic performance against Arsenal in February 2008. After that there were hardly any anti-Fletch posts.

    I wouldn't say a lone wolf, :)

Some very funny quotes there PigHead, Well done.

You've been on this "agree to disagree" buzz for the last couple of weeks now everytime somebody argues that something you've said is incorrect.

Why exactly do you post on a discussion board?

not really tbh, i have had plenty of arguements/debates on here the last couple of weeks, but there are some things that just dont warrant a huge debate, the likelyhood is they have already been debated and maybe im sick of repeating myself?

if someone wants to say my OPINION is incorrect because their OPINION is correct then they can, but why would i bother trying to change it? as has been pointed out, people rarely change their opinions round here

there is only so much banging my head on a wall i can do i guess

    why i post here?

dont actually need to justify that to you tbh

Just taught on yesterday and few people have being saying it too me who go games quite bit at OT.

The atmosphere has improved quite a bit since the LUHG campaign has started and people wearing green and gold scarves.

My mate was at pompey game and said even though it was aginst bottom side the atmosphere was better then it normally would for team United play who be bottom of league in other seasons.

    Anyone agree or like discuss?

It's a fair comment. Yesterday was always going to be electric for the most part, although it was still a little muted at times. I think the MUST campaign has given supporters a focus and a reason to be very vocal, beforehand I had started to feel that a lot of supporters turned up expecting 4/5-0 victories every week and were less likely to be excited as a result.

The atmosphere this season has been incredible at most of the games I've been over for.

Yes same here have been to 4 games since green gold campaign taken off and noticed improvement.

Only game I was disappointed for atmosphere was Everton game back in November taught be better with it being 5.30kick off and it being Everton too, but otherwise been top notch.

I've only been to four games(pure expert, I know:p), once for a Charlton game in around 2004 and for the City games in 07/08 and 08/09 seasons.
Last years City game was decent for atmospher but the other two were terrible. Yesterday was a whole new level for atmosphere, for me it was completely unbelievable. My voice is gone from singing at the game and in the pub.:(

Yes, I thought the same too. The Pompey game was the first I had been too since the Green and Gold Campaign took off, and the atmosphere was significantly better than similar games I've been to previous. The place was rocking for the whole 2nd half.

Yea...their fans were brilliant that day. They were supplied with G&G scarfs and joined in with the protest, to show their support. It was a cool gesture.

Pompey Vrs AC Milan in the UEFA cup did see the whoel stadium bouncing!! Magical moment even sitting just watching it on TV.

I have to agree with the point taht the atmosphere has only significantly increased since the G&G, MUST, MUST campaign all started it has given the fans a voice to sing about. Only thign is when the Glaziers still decide never to sell will the atmosphere continue to be this pumped up.

opinions, opinions. Yeah he had a great touch and never gave the ball away. I would think most professional footballers should be able to do this, the basics.
Whether or not most professional footballers have the ability to do that - especially in England in modern times - would be very much up for debate imho. The fact is, Keane was better at it than most you would see playing in England, then and now. And better at it than Fletcher is.
    Vanbis wrote: »
NO i am not talking Roy Keane. You and Pro.F need to go back and read previous post and not just pick up bits and jump to your own conclusions.

Roy keane is a legend at Manutd and one of my favourite players of all time.

You said he had no skill and that Fletcher has more to his game. That was simply wrong.

Scholes on the Chelsea game etc.
From Times Online March 23, 2010

Manchester United must beat Chelsea, says Paul ScholesJames Ducker

Paul Scholes believes defeat by Chelsea in their “massive” game at Old Trafford next week could cost Manchester United an unprecedented fourth successive Barclays Premier League title.

United opened up a four-point lead on Chelsea at the weekend, but that deficit will be cut to a point if Carlo Ancelotti’s team beat Portsmouth at Fratton Park in their game in hand tomorrow.

Arsenal, who have the easiest run-in on paper of the three title challengers, are just two points adrift of United, with Scholes warning his team-mates that they may have to win all of their remaining seven matches if they are to make history, including overcoming Chelsea on Saturday week.

“The game against Chelsea at Old Trafford next week is going to be massive and we need to win that one, but it’s not the only important match,” the midfield player said.

Wayne Rooney tweaked his knee during United’s 2-1 victory at home to Liverpool on Sunday, but the problem is not thought to be serious and the England forward should be fit for the league game against Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday evening.

Rooney has been playing with inflamed kneecap tendons in recent weeks, but despite leaving Old Trafford with a pronounced limp at the weekend, Sir Alex Ferguson, the manager, will afford his leading goalscorer some rest this week to ensure his availability against Bolton.

Rio Ferdinand, the United defender, described it as “probably the best title run-in for years”, with Scholes confident the team’s experience will hold them in good stead.

“Winning the league is a brilliant feeling and, like everyone else at United, I hope we can do it again this season because it would be great to win four titles in a row,” he said.

“Bringing the trophy to Old Trafford three times on the trot was a big achievement, but now we want to go a step further.

“The chance of making history doesn’t drive me on. That’s not what is in the back of my mind every time I walk out on to the pitch. I want to win every game and every trophy, whether it’s the first time I’ve won it or the tenth.

“I’d like to think we have the right players, ones who have been there before and know how tough it can be to win the league. If you’ve never won the league, then you’re desperate to do so. On the flip side, once you start winning trophies, you don’t want to stop. Maybe that experience will help us.

“Every season is different and throws up new twists and challenges. All we can do is hope we react to what happens in the right way.”

    happy Archie? ;)

and the link wont open for me for some reason but the guardian have an update on Rooney

saying he should be fit for the bolton game

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/mar/22/wayne-rooney-fit-manchester-united

edit- if we do lose Rooney to injury we are well and truly ****ed imo

maybe he will be nursed to the end of the season and have to take the summer off ;)

Can we quit the crying game for Ronaldo - jaysus the lad wept enough himself. He was a blow in who blew out in less years than the fingers I have on one hand.

Genius player, but a cry baby, tantrum thrower, whose posings are better suited to Madrid.. the place where all United's most media friendly players go to fizzle out their careers.

Give me Rooney over him anyday.

I discount any time he spent at the club after he celebrated a Champions League win for United by crying in the centre circle on his own, with the thoughts in his head that it would be his last season at Old Trafford.

Fergie should've got rid of him there & then, before the brat went whinging to the likes of Pele about his "slavery" like contract.
