Can't see us signing him and Chamakh though!

Suarez isn't really a lead the line striker like Chamakh, he's a supporting forward, a bit more like Arshavin, quick, nimble, good with the ball at his feet and great at getting behind defensive lines. If Arsene were serious about him though in my opinion it either means he's given up on one of Walcott or Arshavin or else reverting to 4-4-2 for next season.

I don't think Suarez will be moving this Summer though, prices being mooted for him are ridiculous. €25m is simply way too much to be spending on a player from Holland considering how poor the overall standard of the league is. Well, I'm sure if he has a great world cup you'll see some big places in for him but at the moment the price seems a bit steep.

The standard is poor alright but 47 goals is seriously impressive all the same. Ajax's goal difference is insane.

Didn't he come out and say that he's promised Jol he'll be staying at Ajax for one more year yet?

And the fact that they didn't win the title this year would mean he really wants to prove a point next year.

did you read the part about Alves though? I bet middlesborough fans thought the same!

Huntelaar also scored proficiently with Ajax (105 goals in 136 apps according to wiki) and has largely disappointed at all levels since. Watch the clips of Suarez on youtube, his ability on the ball is very good no doubt, but defenders really do stand off a lot in the dutch league. He gets ridiculous amounts of space to work with that he simply would not get in Italy, England or Spain, it's a serious step up to one of the big leagues for him, so I'd be reluctant to pay over €20m for him as there's still a sizable gamble as good as his record is. World Cup will be a big test of his ability tbh, he'll be one of the most closely watched players.

Dunno, but he did sign a contract extension around January so that would make sense.

I'm not disagreeing, just saying he's been very impressive in what he's done so far. Whether he's a Kezman, Huntelaar, Van Nistelrooy or an Overmars obviously remains to be seen.

I watch Suarez a fair good bit and bet on him alot :)

he really is such a class act, he's one of these players that can turn a game for ya, a match winner.

he's fast, great skill and all important he has an eye for the goals, he reminds me of bergkamp in alot of ways

the only bad thing about him is his temperament, he has a tendency to get a few yellows

What a sorry sight arsenal are. Absolutely atrocious. another barren famine on the way with our pathetic team of midgets. the 2 goals conceded today were abysmal.

In the ideal world a clear out would happen but in the real world that wont happen. If the players don't give a damn then why would anyone else.

The last optimist has been broken lads. I'm willing to admit defeat.

After todays performance i do not care if i see theo walcott or abou diaby in an arsenal shirt again. With a heavy heart it makes me say that about walcott.

Infact give him one more year, just because i like him.

We're missing nasri having to play down the middle, he was good for the last few min he was out on the wing. He can beat players with skill as opposed to pace.

    Eduardo gone
Vela ( another heavy heart ) gone
    Silvestre Almunia, Fabianski gone

Promote Wojoich to no 2 and sign a new keeper.

Why traore was on the pitch today i'm not sure, awful diaby like touch and very ropey. Would have been elated to seen gibbs play a part today.

Not a knee jerk, i'm just the last line of defense of this team to fall.

im not having a dig at you or anything if your not into it, your not into it and no i didnt shed a tear. i dont think anyone can be upset given what they achieved over the years it had to end sometime.

i appreciate what the women's team have achieved given the lame ducks we have to watch on the mens team the last 6 years. we have had to go from watching double acheivements ,unbeaten runs and a CL appearance to lucas fabianski, walcott and vela.

i think people are harsh on diaby. thought he done ok today. he was in a more defensive role.

i cant defend Wenger for bringing some of the rubbish he has bought to the club. surely to god he knows that the English game is full of roughhouse Mullockers like Blackburn and he bought the likes of Walcott and vela to counteract that.

a win or draw would have papered over a lot of cracks today

Anyone else think we could do with a new keeper?

Also, is it a good thing that Blackburn and big Sam have combined forces? Instead of having two bogey teams who like to kick us off the park, there's now only one.

I'll assume thats a rhetorical question.

My 2c. As I've said before, we need a new no1 without a shadow of a doubt and Mannone is a decent no.2.

    Frey... cough cough...

I know Yvonne Tracey used to be on the team for a while as I was friends with her brother Shane who played underage for Arsenal for a while too think he made about 2 reserve appearance before heading back to Ireland

There is no purpose to play the ball from the Blackburn players - they don't even watch the ball. He (Fabianski) had two players in front of him all the time and every time it was to stop him getting the ball.

In football when you don't go for the ball and you stop the keeper going for the ball it is a foul. I think the referee cannot allow that. I am very disappointed the referee lets that happen in a football game, it is unfair to a goalkeeper.

They (Blackburn) do it well but when you feel that as a referee you have to give more protection. It doesn't take away the fact we weren't good but that is completely unfair.

I think Lucasz had a good game - it should affect the confidence of the referee.
    Alardyce wrote:
If you expose the opposition's weaknesses enough then in the end those weaknesses will be exposed. The amount of balls we put into the box on the keeper, who has obviously been a weak link for them, paid off.

We beat Arsenal fair and square. The referee gave some that were fouls, he gave some that weren't fouls and he didn't give some that might have been fouls.

You can't give everything as a foul on the goalkeeper and he certainly gave his fair share.

You can argue all you want about those two particular incidents but we could argue Morten Gamst Pedersen should have had a penalty when he got brought down in the second half.

I'm not overly concerned about what Arsene says - he's said it before about my tactics. But we know these tactics work against Arsenal and they've worked again today.

We play the game as managers, we look at each other and you see if you can find any weaknesses in the opposition manager as well as the team.

Criticising me is great because I'd sooner him criticise me when I've beaten them rather than him praising me when they've beaten us. It is very pleasing we have won the game and I think we won the game because we deserved to.

Alardyce never fails to rub me up the wrong way, decent manager ll the same though!

bit daft to say the goalie had a good game though and that he wasn't at fault for either goal. the blackburn players didn't foul him for the goal either, silly stuff.

Wenger's protecting his player but Fab messed up.

When Blackburn players are standing in front of him and not leaving the ground, it's up to Fabianski to earn the foul.

He needs to be jumping and challenging for the ball, not just flapping at it with his feet on the ground.

I would have preferred him to put his knee through the back of Samba en route to the ball. Might have made him think twice of standing there again.

Umm... for the first Roberts had his arm across Fabianski's throat and then elbowed him in the side when he tried to get around him. That's legal now?

Wenger's wearing his Fabianski blinkers again...

Apart from Francis Jeffers... Fabianski is easily the worst player to ever put on an arsenal jersey (apart from me in indoor soccer)

Wenger is keeping Fabianski (unfortunately) so, he's not going to come out and criticise him. Alardyce has basically said he's set out to target Fabianski by consistently fouling him and the fact that he fobbed of both incidents leading up to the goals with "You can argue all you want about those two particular incidents but we could argue Morten Gamst Pedersen should have had a penalty when he got brought down in the second half." is very telling.

Anyway, our season's been over a while now, the sooner we get the Fulham game over with the better. Then we'll see who these "two or three players max" are!

just because I could... and for those who don't believe me (*cough* Alan *cough*), here's the shot where Roberts smashes his elbow into Fabianski (quality is **** so i've also outlined the arm in red for those who can't make it out).

It's up high, near the neck. You sometimes see players getting a straight red for that.

If Nasri had have just stayed on his post instead of wander 6 yards off it he could have stopped Dunn scoring.

    Just an observation.

Indeed, it's shocking defending all round as usual. Tactics completely backfired too, Campbell was supposed to be protecting Fabianski, but there were always so many players on him that he ends up getting stuck behind bodies when the ball was whipped in, so he was never in a position to compete for the ball. Not to mention RVP was in a position to cut out the little cross but waited for the ball to come to him instead of attacking it. Diaby and Sagna then kept letting their markers in behind them every time, arms and elbows everywhere... it was a nightmare in the box really from an Arsenal p.o.v.

You don't expect him to say he had a bad game though?
Why not? All he has to say is he's a young keeper and he made a mistake. Its wat he said in the pre-match interview when talking about the Wigan game.

Because if he did that, he'd end up bashing him after every game and there's just no point at all!

That would be utterly retarded. Fabianski's issues are clearly down to his nerves. To come out and say such would have him wound up even further!

Wasn't there an Irish girl on that Arsenal team a few years ago?

No. 19, Niamh Fahey, ex Salthill Devon is playing with Arsenal. She had a good game today.

She played on the All Ireland winning Galway team a few years back.
