Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Clichy needs one thing to up his game.......
    another Goal.

Might do wonders for him going forward.
Without being flamboyant or overly skillfull, Clichy is one off the few Pacey LB that any of the top four would have in their team.
    He don't need no rest.:)

Has he even got one yet??

Yes, last year around this time against Stoke.

    Arsenal are rich apparently.

Interesting that this doesn't take into account the sale of Toure or Adebayor. Also it states that Arsenal did receive money as part of a sell on clause when Diarra moved from Portsmouth to Madrid.

The reason it doesn't take those sales into account is:

"The club sold striker Emmanuel Adebayor and defender Kolo Toure to big-spending Manchester City in the summer, but these deals took place in the current financial year."

Oh, thought that one went down as an own goal, I remember it being quite scruffy.

Isn't that open source? So if Gael himself had a Wikipedia account conceivably he could edit it to say that he scored it. Not saying that he would though.

I love Clichy, think he's a fantastic player. But he wouldn;t get into the Chelsea or United teams, Evra and Cole are both better.

I'm fairly sure the dubious goal's committee gave it as an own goal...

Best he can hope for is if we're hammering them and he comes off the bench with Wilshire and Ramsey!

Hope to see him come good, for too long we've been hearing about guys doing great in reserves praying for them to make good and they bugger off into obscurity, pennant, barrett, stokes, Thomas, Vernazza, muamba, bentley(heard him mentioned as DB10 MKII at one stage).

    Same old Arsenal, always injured.

As much as I don't like seeing any of our players injured I think this will actually make us stronger. Ramsey is a better player then Denilson IMO and Walcott or Vela can replace Bendtner.

Interesting comments from Wenger on the clubs financial situation

    http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-profit-means-i-am-doing-my-job
Arsène Wenger believes he “would not be doing his job” if Arsenal made a financial deficit.

This morning, the Club announced a net profit of £35.2 million for the year ending May 31, 2009. They are healthy figures and, a few hours later at his pre-match press conference, Wenger was the first to pay tribute. However the Frenchman also emphasised that, for him, sporting success is always the primary aim providing it does not hamper the long-term stability of the Club.

“I am encouraged by the fact that the financial results are good because on my side I try to contribute to that,” he said.

“I am quite proud that I work in a company that is in a strong financial situation. I have always worked in clubs which make money and I would not feel that I do my job well if we lost money at the end of the season.

“However the sporting side is always the most important thing. To be completely happy you have to do well on the sporting side but never, no matter what happens, can it be accepted from any manager that to do that you put your club in trouble."

So he's saying that any manager who spends and puts his club into debt is not doing his job correctly regardless of silverware won etc. I'd say he's not alone in his thinking but most managers wouldn't care long term as long as they won something and have over spent in order just to compete at the highest level. Its where the football mindset is today.

If he can build on his latest CC performance you'd never know. To me he looks every bit as good as Ramsey.

As for our injury troubles. I'm not too concerned. I much prefer Diaby to Denilson and it should give the likes of Ramsey a shot at first team football.
Re: Bendtner, while I think he has been playing quite well this season, we have several attacking players ready to take his place for Wednesday's game (eduardo and Vela immediately spring to mind).

Diaby is great when attacking through the centre, he just doesn't get played there often enough!

As for Bendtner, he has done well this season even though he's mainly been used out on the right behind the striker. If we deploy the same system tonight, I'd be surprised to see either Vela or Eduardo play there! Maybe Arshavin, with Eboue on the right of midfield.

When played up front, Bendtner has qualities and gives us options that few of our other strikers can. I'd like to see him play more as part of a front two.

If I was a defender, I would be scared sh1tless to see an attacking three of Arshavin/RvP/Vela! Or replace Vela with Eddie... Either way looks pretty formidable to me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭keano_afc

I reckon it'll be Eboue getting on the nod on the right of a front 3 unfortunately. Come on Arsene, we're at home against a weaker side. Go for the jugular! Front 3 of Arshavin/RvP/Eduardo please.

Merida's two goals against Nigeria if anyone's interested... two very nice finishes. 3 goals for him now in 2 matches so his confidence must be high - if he can press on with some sub appearances for the first team when he gets back next month, we could finally start seeing why he's been rated so highly for all this time.

Was fairly suprised Traore wasn't on the bench last night.

I know Gibbs did a great job for us last season and may represent someone who will have a longer future at Arsenal but I quite rate Traore. Especially considering he can play anywhere along the left really.

Considering our next two games are against Blackburn and Birmingham it would be great to see him get a start for a few reasons.
Get him some PL game time to see how he does

Stan Kroenke has increased his stake in Arsenal again to give him 28.7% of the club.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8283029.stm

When he gets to 29.9 he will be obliged to table a bid for all remaining shares. Doesn't necessarily mean everyone will sell though (Usmanov!).

Managed to get 2 tickets for the Spurs game at end of Oct.

Absolutely thrilled, lifetime dream to see derby match.

Well in advance for this game but I'm predicting 3 - 1 :D

Will be there myself first game of the season Early start and late finish. Yeah looking forward to this will be sitting above Spurs fans

Season been a bit up and down the good has been the emergence of 'we've only got one' Song & Vermalen but Clichy has been exposed. Like the look Vito Mannone at least now Almunia has to look over his shoulder not that impressed last season with Fabianski. Would like to take in an away game this season maybe Birmingham or Wigan

I liked the look of Džeko last night (good feet and a tall striker who can actually head a ball - I swear that's not a dig at Bender ) and if it's true that we inquired about him in the last transfer window then I'd like to see us bid for him in January.

He scored against United, he is now out of our price range!
