Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. The fact is though that the national coaches own the car (or their respective FAs anyway) and the club coaches only have the car on lease. A bit annoying that they come and drive it while you are paying for it but they have more legitimacy than Houllier suggests

In that case we should not have to pay the "lease" then and they should pay for the petrol when they come to take the car.

They should not be able to take the car, afterall if you were leasing a product, you wold not be too happy if someone came along and took it, damaged it, dumped it, and thenyou have to carry on paying for it.

    Ok so I'm confused.

    We're all buying a car?

Or there's a car buying Arsenal?

I thought I said that in my post. It's annoying, but they do have some legitmacy; after all the clubs know that part of the deal is the players will go off on international duty so many times a year

Arsenal are buying a car that's apparently the next Rooney.

Ah thanks for clearing that up for me.

And the next Kaka is going to be driving?

Yes, but allegedly he's going to leave it with an empty tank, the bounder.

That's not the kind of player we want at the club then so. I'd much rather take the next Bret Ormerod and on a vespa

Just heard that Van Persie is getting fluid from a horse placenta or something to help his injury?
    Heard that on Sky News.

    Can anyone confirm?

Yep, it's going to be massaged into his ankle. Statement on Arsenal.com

the only thing that could possibly help Van Persie and his injury record is to get a degree in stem cell research, make breakthrough discoveries while somehow avoiding the massive media outrcry, and then artificially manufacturing new limbs. I'd say it'd almost be worth his while considering how crocked he gets. Email Wenger and tell him to enroll Van Persie in UCL's biochemistry course. :p

I'm predicting RvP's injury will not be the major loss some are predicting. Yes it would be preferable to have him, but this season we have had more goalscorers than any Premiership team.
Maybe... but while the fixture list's been relatively kind, there are still two big games (maybe three if it stretches to the Villa match as it probably will) that he'll miss, with Bendtner out at the same time. So we're relying on Eduardo to not get one of those niggly little strains for the best part of two months... he's been used sparingly so far so he might have built up enough strength to do that but I think people worrying is fair enough.

As for the different goalscorers argument, RVP also has 8 or so direct assists and the ability to bring people into a move to a greater degree than I think Eduardo does. So I'm going to wait and see on this one.

Yeah saw that being reported on Young Guns earlier... hopefully it's nothing too serious and he can take over from Traore by the Chelsea match at the latest. We're very lucky to have three quality left-backs (even if Gael hasn't been at his absolute best over the last 12-18 months).

So much for the healthier November Wenger was planning...

Gibbs is the dreaded metatarsal, could be 3 months. And I'm hearing Ramsey is injured as well?

We've a whole team nearly on the sidelines at this stage.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,983 ✭✭✭leninbenjamin

oh for **** off. Metatarsal? Is that confirmed? What other bloody club in the league gets luck this bad that they lost their two left backs to long term injuries? Maybe we should sacrifice something to the gods...

we don't have enough players to sacrifice to any god!

    Fabianski
    Gibbs Djourou Clichy Traore
    Wilshere Denilson Diaby Ramsey
    RvP Vela

    plus bendtner

thats a pretty impressive team there.....other than clichy filling in at CB...hopefully Gallas doesn't add to the list!

I was thinking more along the lines of an Ashley Cole.... Gunners are sacrosanct.

he's also injured. gods already got him. how about david bentley mixed with alex hleb and topped off with adeboyar....?

    Feck it anyway
So assuming we manage to get away with anymore injuries the team for the weekend should be

    Almunia

    Sagna
    Gallas
    Vermaelen
    Traore

    Fab----Song
    Diaby

    Nasri
    Arshavin

    Eduardo

I can only hope that he doesn't decide to play Silvestre instead of Traore.

Also Nasri could easily go into the middle instead of Diaby and Eboue on the wing

Wow, things are pretty bad on the injuries front. At least we haven't lost either Gallas or Verm. When is Walcott back?

Sure Diaby is injured, so I wouldnt expect to see him line out. Put Nasri back there and play Rosicky as one of the attacking 3. Traore doubtful as well, he might shift Sagna over and play Eboue RB.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

    Completely forgot Diaby is injured.
Yeah I'd imagine Rosicky and Nasri will play in that case.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,500 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Let's just pray that Gallas, and Sagna sure, get red carded in the first 5 minutes of the match tonight. Win win!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,746 ✭✭✭✭Galvasean

Wow, thats a huge amount of injuries. 12 first team squad players. Thank our lucky stars we have more depth this season.

Regards the sunderland game hopefully Traore will start if not Silvestre will have to do.

    But according to skysports;
Armand Traorespacer.gif is another who could fill in if required, but he is yet to shake off a groin complaint and is unlikely to be risked by Wenger

Dear Thierry Henry, I loved you when you played for us, you made me cry when you scored on the last day of Highbury, I was broken hearted when you left for Barca... but tonight I can say Im absolutely disgusted with you.

    You were my idol.

Stomach in knots here, so dissappointed in him :(:(:(

Out of all of the players on both sides Thierry is the one Id have thought was least likely do do something like that, I was half expecting him to turn around and say he handled it you know?

    Fuck guys...

I'd love to know what he was saying to Dunne when he sat down beside him after the game.

I'd like to think he was apologising

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,500 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Ah it's a ****in terrible feeling alright. The man is an arsenal legend and it hurts to have seen him do that. It's understandable from the viewpoint that he was just trying to get his team through, and the linesman was at fault for not calling it(keane hand balled it plenty of times too but was penalised), but still:(

He didn't look happy at all at the end, would love to know what he said to Dunne as well.

Back on topic Sagna and Gallas came through seemingly unscathed. Both played 120 minutes though, so maybe Eboue in at RB for Sunderland.

What was the story with Gallas' gumshield aswell?
