Eboue is going to have a blinder.....and score too!!! :)

No sign of Eduardo today. Wenger will no doubt say he's injured, even if he's not.

    Almunia
    Sagna
    Gallas
    Vermaelen---Traore
    Denilson

    Nasri
    Fabregas
    ---Eboue
    Rosicky--
    Arshavin

Subs: Fabianski, Senderos, Vela, Ramsey, Silvestre, Wilshere, Merida
Rosicky wasn't great midweek he needs a big game if he wants to start proving he's worth a contract extention Arshvin heading the line against shawcross should be interesting

Eduardo has been in dire form, so I think Wenger can be forgiven for dropping him. Having said that, it's not like Arshavin and Rosicky haven't been playing too well either. Anyway, I see that Arsenal are 1/4 to win in the bookies. I think the contest is going to be much closer than that.

    Veetle working for me.

Great goal from Arshavin and Eboue stopped a Fabregas shot on the line!!!

Channel appears to be off air jason. Been getting that a lot. Thanks all the same.

Eboue is just getting warmed up. He doesn't want Cesc to score. He missed a pen and cleared his effort off the line. He wants to score himself. :D

Keep refreshing it or something, still going strong here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,435 ✭✭✭wandatowell

Ya my veetle was a bit stuttery at the start but with 30 seconds it cleared up and is perfect since. Gotta say arshavin is looking very good as the main striker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,043 ✭✭✭✭L'prof

Would have been harsh but, we could easily have had another penalty just before half-time.

We could easily be winning 3/4-0, let's just hope it's not another one of those days where we dominate and draw!

Himself and Cesc seem to have a great understanding between each other and are linking up very well!

Mine's just stop and start constantly urgh! Probably have to catch the highlights later :( Least we're winning even if we missed a peno (why did I make fabergas my captin this week and put sorsen on the bench?! lol)

It still won't load for me, keeps saying try another time. In student accommodation right now. Anybody think that could be hampering it, behind a col firewall maybe? Oh well!!!

Yeah, that could be it. I have friends on student accommodation and they find it very sluggish.

From what I seen, he was decent. Unlucky not to score twice and involved in the majority of out attacks!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,660 ✭✭✭SDTimeout

Cesc and Arsh linking up today was brilliant. There was one particular passage outside the box which ended with a OTT ball for Vela. It was great play,

Good game i thought and it's these results we build on.

Yes saw the highlights. Refreshing to see Arshavin stay up twice when he was tackled. Pity more premiership players dont follow his cue.

Talk about freddie joining in jan ? Similar to a becks to Milan thing.

As the reason i started supported arsenal at a young age was freddie ljungberg. So i personally would love it, Think he'd be able to do a decent job on the wing allowing alright cover for arsh to continue in the RVP role.

Ljungberg was a shadow if his former self when he played for West Ham, I doubt a spell in America will have done much to improve that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,660 ✭✭✭SDTimeout

I suppose it's more of a personal thing for me anyway, Same way alot said about henry and paddy v. Don't want to tarnish the rep they built

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,174 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Yeah but I think Ljungberg is different to those two in that I wouldn't see him as being of much use to the current squad. Vieira/Henry while not the players they were, would still do a job.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,660 ✭✭✭SDTimeout

    I suppose,

to a post further up, when i've seen arsh play with russia on ESPN he plays in an eduardo role as a second striker. Knock downs from Pav, whom i've got feeling wenger is going to be interested in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,174 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Rosicky "out for a while" with a groin injury. If this is another lengthy one you'd have to think he won't be offered a new contract.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,983 ✭✭✭leninbenjamin

Anyone want to help compile a running list of all the players we are linked to between now and the end of Jan? Thought it might be a bit of fun :).

    So far we've:

    Dzeko
    Balotelli
    Gignac
    Pazzini
    Chamakh
    Ljunberg
    Vieira

with Carlton Cole being the newest addition according to Goal.com today  And some kid called Zezinho?

and on the other side of things, the Cesc to Barca/Madrid rumours have kicked up again today, this time a paltry €45m being mentioned

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Ljungberg was very poor in his final season in England.

Taking him back on would be a massive step backwards as he would be worse than all our other wingers.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,828 ✭✭✭gosplan

TBH lads, there isn't really any merit in discussing who the papers decide we're 'linked' with this week.

The only time I can ever remember anyone actually calling it correctly was with Arshavin.

All the other times, it was Bacary who? Adebayawhat?

I don't believe you have been watching Arsenal this year...

I certainly have, we have scored 38 goals, more then anyone else, but our defence has looked dodgy at times. Letting in 18 compared to united(13) and chelsea(10), shows that in my humble opinion, we need to focus on defensive areas. losing van persie is a blow, less so rosicky because we could never depend on him, But I think we have enough firepower in Eduardo, bendtner, Vela, Fab, Nasri, Arshavin and walcott if we can keep them fit. I have always felt that there has not been a central midfielder who has really stepped upto the plate to support fabregas, denilson is better all round then diaby and song and is curerently top choice, but I would like a bit more battling toughness in there. Also, I cant watch a game where I feel I would put my house on gallas and almunia to be inpenitrable, we are weak on setpieces. I would love to see a new keeper and an up and coming centre half to really create competition in those areas.

For me, transfer focus should prioritise defensive strenght this time around.
