Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi everyone,

I am looking to get some audio from last week on today fm, that hasn't been podcasted, and I am wondering is there any archive or method of retrieving parts of shows?

I know on the old website there was a way you could type in the date and time and you could then download it, but that doesn't seem to work with their new website!

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    eidub

Today FM and all BCI licensed stations are required to keep recordings of all output for at least 90 days. You can contact them and they are obliged to provide you with a copy of the audio or at least a transcript of the piece in question.

They might charge a nominal fee for this.

I appreciate if it's just for entertainment you're not going to do this, but if it's for serious reasons you may consider it worthwhile.

Are you sure Stations are obliged to make their logging material available to the general public ?

They must keep recordings of all their output for 90 days certainly, but they're absolutely not obliged to provide a copy or transcript on request of anything broadcast to anyone but the BCI (or in some cases the gardaí).

It's still worth a try though as they should be ABLE to provide you with a copy... if they can be arsed.

That would be my thinking too but it's a while since I read the guidelines.

Digital logging makes things easier that they were in the past and might give him a better chance . The OP sholud try contact the person in charge of logging.

Drop me a PM with the broadcast date and time and I'll get you a copy.

"if they can be arsed" was a poor choice of words on my part. I just realise the difficulty in finding the time to provide recordings of broadcasts to listeners, especially if there's a lot of requests for that service.

"Obliged" was poor choice of words on my part. I should have said they "should" provide a copy or transcript.

For the most part if it's not an obvious legal issue they should help.

All station logging is done a PC these days. You just enter the time a date into the software and pop in a blank CD or DVD.

Not true, some of the smaller stations still use VHS. The cost of providing a system that could watermark the mp3 which was necessary under the guidelines when digital logging was first introduced prevented some stations from taking that route.

I think the BCI may allow non watermarked logging systems such as total recorder for smaller stations now.
