Why do the vampires explode (big, fiery explosions) when they're killed?

Because special effects are all the rage with the young folks these days :pac:

Howl's Moving Castle passed the train journey today.

Preferred Spirited Away but still enjoyed it.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is next on the list!

    spirited away is pretty good.

Haven't seen many anime films lately but if you want a good small series to pass the time: Code geass or good ol' Bleach is always good.

And I dare ya to watch Gantz,go on I dare ya.

Bleach is more a rather long series ;)

I accept your challenge. Gantz shall be watched tomorrow when I'm somewhat more awake than at this current moment.

I don't think so... unless I tuned out in disgust at some point... there was a bit of rape, or attempted rape anyway.

Watched Howl's Moving Castle? Has it been adapted as an animé or somesuch? I rather enjoyed the kids' book back in the day...

Its not anime per se...its very Japanese but epic in a non-anime manga way.

It has surely. It's a Studio Ghibli production - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0347149/.
Got quite a few well known voices in the dubbed version - Christian Bale, Billy Crystal and Blythe Danner for example.
