I love you man has RUSH in it. It is therefore the greatest film ever, regardless of it's average pacing and weak Paul Rudd performance!
I didn't like it, there was no plot-twist, in fact, there was no plot.
It's just a boring film about a guy who makes a new friend and has a good time with him, a couple of amusing bits but completely overpowered by the feeling of "What the ****, nothing actually HAPPENED" when you get to the end.

Yes, I was of the same opinion. No story, and worse ending. But it had RUSH in it...

Your both wrong, this movie is soley epic for this line alone.

  • Moderators Posts: 8,678 ✭✭✭D4RK ONION

He was talking about bass because of Rush!

I saw Tropic Thunder last night, thought it was hilarious, mainly just because of Tom Cruise.

    Pretty amazing movie indeed.

I loved "I love you man", thought it was high-larious

Might watch "Lost in Translation" later. Hopefully this time I can man up and not shed a tear at the end...

I watched Dirty Dancing for the first time yesterday. Was better than I thought.

In the last while I've watched:
Gran Torino  Amazing movie. Clint Eastwood is brilliant.
Taken - Liam Neeson is actually made of awesome.
The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus - Excellent movie. I loved Tom Waits. And
the way Heath Ledger's character changed actor when he went into the imaginarium. It worked perfectly.
Twilight - I don't really know why. It wasn't as awful as I remembered, but some bits were terrible. I also read the books a few weeks ago. Not awful either.
Harry Potter 6 - Terrible. Even worse than I remembered it to be when I saw it at the cinema. Very bad movie, and it's such a brilliant book

I might watch something later....Quantam of Solace perhaps, solely because I haven't seen it yet.

The Phantasmagorical Imaginatorium of Dr Parnassicarius or whateverthefúck - hated it. Self indulgent. Senseless. Although Tom Waits was a slick Satan.

Up is the greatest film of all time. I've seen in twice in the last 8 days.

Watched Amélie last night, was fairly messed up but enjoyable. A bit French, like.

^ Amélie is epic :) Paris, Je T'aime is another brilliant French movie, incidentally. Oh, and De Battre Mon Coeur S'est Arrêté is amazing! Great soundtrack, too :)

I'm going to the cinema this weekend, anyone want to recommend a movie?

I think I'm possibly the only person in the world not to have seen it. :( Will definitely make it happen this week....

Doing Amélie as my document for my French Oral has forever destroyed it for me. Though, I'm not sure I fully got it in the first place. I do love whatsherface though... :)

And as for Amélie, is there really much to get? :p (I loved it)

But as bizarre French films go, Taxi is much better :D

Okay, so I must be the only person in the world who wants to see it, who hasn't seen it.

It was in French! That means I actually have to pay attention at all times to what's happening, cos I can't get the gist of it from what they're saying cos I can't like, understand it. I'm not very good at paying attention for extended periods of time. :P

Anyone happen to see Je vous Trouve Tres Beau during the Leaving?
    Strange strange movie;
"Aymé played by Blanc, a recently widowed farmer, is eager to find a new wife to help him run his farm. Desperate, he seeks the aid of a local matchmaker who suggest that he go to Romania to find a new wife."

Wholeheartedly recommend Persepolis on the French cinema front though.

It's good but don't expect something along the line sof City Of God. Tsotsi is much more slow paced.

Saw two French films recently - "The Class" and "Persepolis". Both are magnificent films I'd definately recommend to anyone :)

Watched it last night and it was wonderful!

Definitely had a city of god vibe off it, both in terms of tone and the general feel of the film. Thats by no means a bad thing tho.

Watching "I'm a Cyborg, but that's OK" on Film4 at the moment.

About a Korean girl in a psychiatric ward who thinks she's a robot. A bit surreal. Cool though.

    :P

The sci-fi soc (of which I am somehow the PRO) were showing new Star Trek film the other week here in DCU. Pick a few key moments in the film, turn to the guy next to you (secretary of society) and say "Is that the death star?" or "Are those Jedi?".
Most awesome way to spend the film ever.

WIN! "That purple stuff, is that the warp?" "That big beast chasing him, that's a krootox, right?" (40K is nerdier than star wars and star trek combined!)

Go to your local WH seller and they'll usually let you have a trial game with them. Be warned, it's an expensive hobby

You know what was a great film? Starship Trooper! I saw it the other night there, man those bugs got blown to crap...

EDIT: Seriously though, I did see that film last saturday, it's so cheesy I love it!

Just went to see new moon...laughed in all the wrong places:p

Loved it though in a "this story is ridiculous but robert pattinson and taylor lautner are hot" kinda way.

I'll give it one thing though, the special effects are amazing. The werewolves are serioulsy cool. Totally trump the werewolf in harry potter.

    compared to this

    new moon wins
