It's for sale from January onwards if you're interested! I've just got 40mm springs to get into it and she's ready to go..
Ah wants and needs!! Just got my car a couple of weeks ago... You should just garage it when you go away.. shame to sell it!!

Was playing about with ISO settings for the first time, took few more pics:

high iso leaves the picture very grainy, better off getting a tripod and taking a longer exposure

lol, thats what I did. Hope none of the neighbours saw me with a tripod in the back of the car...

I'm really considering that actually.. I've a bit of a loan to pay of on it but if I leave it garaged back in Monaghan, manage to pay of the loan and save enough to travel, I'll definately keep it.

It's garaged though from January though no matter what.. only 3-4 more weeks of driving it :(

Your yoke is class lookin by the way! It's the m42 engine in it just like mine I believe :D

Done well on the payout from the insurance anyways, quite the mystery though as to how it went up!!

I'll garage it till things pick up again if I can't get the money for it.

Unfortunately a v low car with 4 people in it meant that when I was pulling into a driveway with a particularily high gate stopper in the middle meant I did a bit of damage to the underside that would have been impossible to drive with without doing even moe damage! Heartbreaking : -(. All fixed now though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,661 ✭✭✭Voodoomelon

What got damaged may i ask?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,534 ✭✭✭SV

    I'd guess at oil sump?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,885 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

Ah that's not too bad. Yeah sump is probably what ya damaged since it's the lowest part under the car. The only trouble I've had with mine is the hard to start craic. Fortunately I got an AccessPort from america and that solved it while also taking off the speed limiter (limited to 118mph since it's a jap import) and increasing the BHP and torque :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭thirtythirty

A bracket got bent around so it was touching the driveshaft, the heatshield got badly pinched, and the petrol tank got a dint. Id been in and out of the driveway all day but that waz the only time I got caught! I didn't have to absolutly change the petrol tank but i decided to anyway, weird thing is tho I swear I get better mileage with the new tank! Maybe the dropwell pump wasn't workin properly on the old one or something

Is the black roof carbon fibre or just painted black??

The owner was a friend of mine so no I couldn't really do that...though a week later his electric gates "clamped" another friend's car and she was pretty close to making him fork out! Neither of us have been to his house since.

haha and rightly so! How do you find your 8?? Is it 190 or 230?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭thirtythirty

I love it, coming up on having it for a year now. I came from a clio dynamique (10 more bhp than standard clio, woo!) so hearing the whine everytime I go to the shops just never gets old. I mulled over the 190 vs 230 for quite a while and in the end went for 190. Can't remember if it affected my insurance getting the 230, but a perfect 190 became available (fsh, only ever run on non-synthetic oil etc) and i got an excellent warranty from joe duffy so i just went for it. I've got my money's worth from that warranty too - two tows (1st one being that silly accident i did myself), and recently one of my spark plugs disintegrated which in turn burnt out the starter coil, all fixed within the day for free! No other problems though, and never flooded.

It's also an excellent daily car cuz both the boot and the backseats have so much room. I fitted a dice ipod/mp3 adapter too which i wired down through the gearstick console so it can be completely covered by the arm rest and i can still control it through the radio :).

I can see myself owning it for years!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,885 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

I know exactly what you mean :) If you ever have to buy plugs or anything like that you should get them from america. I do all my car-part shopping on www.rotaryfx.com

They specialise in parts for the rx-8 and the rx-8 only! Everything is very well priced. You can get a set of either Mazda/NGK plugs or just NGK plugs (which are exactly the same just don't have the mazda logo on the boxes) for less than half the price you'd pay a dealer here and that includes p&p!

I have the 250bhp jap model but wasn't happy with that power so I got an AccessPort and increased it to 275 :) next step will be a turbo!

You're right about the space in the car. So much of it in such a car is nearly unheard of! I'll have had mine for 2 years in December and I don't see myself getting rid of it for at least another 4 to 5 years. I love it!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,534 ✭✭✭SV

    It's just painted.
    Same effect, just..a lot...lot cheaper.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,885 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

Same COLOUR effect you mean :D doubt it would contribute towards weight loss!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,534 ✭✭✭SV

hah, well yeah, but it's not like the car sees the track(well it has, but it won't with me) so it's a bit pointless going down that route!

Might be getting the car resprayed anyway, not too sure. If I do that the black roof will be gone!
