Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Vstrom DL650, one of my fav bikes.

If you're putting crash bars or bash plate on it don't bother with Givi, look at HEED from Poland on Ebay.

Cracking bikes, best of luck with it.

    Thank you.

Yes I plan on adding as much as I can to it.

Will take a look at HEED, never heard of then so nice one for the heads up :D

The bike is fantastic, fuel economy around the city is something else as well.

It needs very minor cosmetic work in and around the pegs as well as the exhaust downpipe but a great bike otherwise. #

Was looking at handguards as well, looked st the SW Motech site and they appear to include indicators?

I don't know those handguards, but I'd just see indicators as something else which can go faulty or break in a fall. I'd go with something cheap, once you're giving your hand some shelter in the winter they're doing their job.

Fuel economy is incredible on them, the most I've gotten was 420km on a tank. They're easy on tires, chains and sprockets too.

They're relatively easy to work on. They're a really nice bike. I always regretted getting rid of mine.

Yeah you're right about the added problem of an extra fault.

Will head over now to take a look at the HEED site.

420 on a tank  wow.

I have to do small bits of work to it alright as per my post over on the other thread.

Was yours similar to my one?

I've only come across 2 DL650's since I got mine, one orange and one black.

I stand out with the white a small bit by the looks of it.

Brake pads, spark plugs etc look like a doddle to do on one.

I've never changed pads on a bike though, all ahead of me :D

420 wasn't typical, that particular tank I purposely stretched it to see what range I'd get but 350 was really easy.

Mine was a 2007 non ABS model, fecking loved it and should have kept it.

Brake pads are a doddle, as are most. Spark plugs & air filter not so but just time consuming.

Very easy on wear & tear like chains, sprockets & tires.

I really can't think of a single negative on the DL650, but if I was really pushed on it I'd say the suspension is its weak point. Ground clearance with a bash plate wouldn't be great either, esp if you're carrying a pillion (ie she'd hit the plate going over speed bumps with a pillion).

And the paint work on the frames can be a little thin, but so are most older suzuki's.

Other than that, great economy, great weather protection. Headlights which would like up the Phoenix Park, very comfy seat (you'll easily put up many hundreds of KM in a day on it).

I prefer the rounad lights on the 675, have you seen the new moto2 bikes?!

Me too! The later bikes are nice but I prefer the look of mine. It's the classic gold and black combo.

I've been watching the updates around Triumph's moto2 development. It looks amazing. If (and I'm hoping when) they bring an updated Daytona 765 to the road, I think my street is in danger of being replaced.

Thanks! Yeah, decided ABS was a must for my first bike. It's great to learn on for now, but already feeling a bit underpowered at times. End goal is something like a Thruxton R in a few years :D

Mine was a 2000 as well. Sold it to buy an 1150 instead. For a lot of my usage the 650 was better.
