Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Royle is easy on the ears - anything beats Lou Macari and that bloke who did the City game.

    Great coverage so far.

Not happy with it, apart from actual Premiership matches. nothing else on it for me, I would have thought they might have Premiership preview show at the very least. On the plus side Rebecca Lowe and Kelly Cates.

I'm really happy with it. Seria A games on the tv. UFC shows, also being a big American sports fan helps, they're supposed to be getting some of the NFL games off Sky too.

ya Seria A is a big plus but one match tomorrow ?

could they not show the juve match too

I might be getting rid of it tbh, amount of re-runs and days without any live soccer or anything live is pretty bad

How long do you get it for, do you have to sign up for a year or is it month by month? I want to get it for Serie A but I'm leaving the country in October and don't want to have to pay for a full year if thats the contract they insist on. If I can get it and then cancel it in October that would be perfect.

Thanks, I'll get on the phone to them on Monday and hopefully have it for the Milan derby next weekend.

They need another channel. They are unable to give decent coverage to all the leagues they have at the moment and they may get La Liga games yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 498 ✭✭Leprechaun77

It seems ok at the moment. The picture quality on the SD channel is not great, but is vastly improved in HD. I'd imagine that the coverage will get better when all the leagues start and get into full swing. The jury is still out, but the €12 sub makes it more bareable

Rang today and it's a month by month so I got it for the next couple of months.

Got it this week. One thing ive noticed watching the HD channel for the spurs hammers match is that the picture quality isnt as good as Sky HD.

I was watching it on SD and the picture quality was poor.
It looked washed out, blurry and blocky.
Very hard to make out the players when the camera was zoomed out.
Sky picture for the Chelsea match was vastly superior.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

Funnily enough it is Sky that is producing the games on ESPN.

I have to agree with MisterAnarchy here, as mentioned in another forum also. I find the picture quality is shocking in Standard Definition on ESPN. The HD channel upscales it to make it a bit more acceptable. I just cannot believe nobody else has noticed this . The blur and clarity are shocking to say the least. Sky's SD picture is far better.

Its bad alright I checked it after the last post not quite as bad as Setanta picture was though, HD is fine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 498 ✭✭Leprechaun77

ESPN HD is fine, but not as crisp as Sky Sports HD....a bit strange really considering the circumstances

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,815 ✭✭✭Charlie

ESPN is on Sky channel 417, a channel that was always low bit-rate. It should be no surprise that it is poorer than Sky Sports 401

Well, Channel 417 aside, a premium channel shouldn't look that poor. If the bit-rate was too low, they should have used something else. Most people would not be aware of the bit-rate of each channel so I think it's a bit unfair to dismiss this as something along the lines of..."...well what did you expect?".

The picture quality is fine, and at least we get Italian and German football on tv now so we don't have to use streams anymore.

I can get over the quality of coverage once I'm watching this game.

One camera seems to be ****ed, though, near the bottom left of the field.

Anybody else see the fly on the camera during the Celtic vs Hibs game?
