Big prodigy fan here.. Seen them at cork.. But I see no real point in seeing them again (even though they were amazing) as it would be the exact same set, no?

Doesn't mean it will be the same setlist, I've seen them twice this year(Germany & Cork) and it was a diff setlist both times. Also they might mix up a little cause they will have played Ireland 5 times this year.

The gig could be 10 times better than Cork and that was really good!

Roll on 4rd time this year in two years!:D

Check out this site, has some setlists.

Me and about 6 other friends got our tickets to the prodigy a while ago, only now Im having doubts about whether I wanna go. Don't get me wrong I love the band, only I'v been thinking is it going to be really that safe like? I'v heard thats its full of 'acidheads'... So like what age would the majority of the people be there?

Also any tips for making sure no-one gets trampled of something and what not to do..?

EDIT: Forgot to mention we have standing tickets.

I've been to loads of Prodigy gigs and never had any bother. In comparison to the Fat Boy Slim gig I was at recently and the scumbags at that one it's like going to see Westlife  All different ages. You have your older fans who followed them from day one and you have your younger dance fans and then everyone in between, it's a big mix.

Things happen at concerts of course and yes you have your dodgy people but I wouldn't let it put me off going. The Prodigy crowd are pretty tame compared to some gigs.

+1 I was at Fat Boy Slim and at Slane to see Oasis and well Fat Boy Slim crowd was alot more, you know. If you don't want to be battered and bruised the following day, don't go into the pit for the Prodigy, if it's anything like Slane it will be mental, the way I like my moshing.

don't go into the pit for the Prodigy

there is no pit in the 02

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

The pit isn't a physical boundary, it's a state of crowd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,990 ✭✭✭Darksaga87

Ive been to 2 of thier gigs and found them great, the people at them are class and very friendly, the crowd is not too bad, nothing more than what you expect at a gig like that.

I seen them in the olympia and the point, the olympia was class, small and personal but loads of buzz, point was ... ok, although i was at the very front, barriar in my chest!! still great times! I was 16 at the first and 17 at the second and had no problems.

(im not on drugs either BTW ;))

You sound like a worried parent in disguise. Your child will be stabbed and then danced on.

"acidheads"-ahh the innocence.if you're that worried you can stay at the back of the standing section.the great thing about the o2 is even at the back you're still very close to the stage.
it should be a cracking gig in the o2.

Unless they state on their website that they are going to play Rhythm of Life, We Eat Rhythm & Gabba then I ain't getting a ticket.

I've been to 30+ Prodigy concerts, this is back in the day, it ain't the same anymore, I enjoy their new material but their live performances aren't the same, maybe I'm being cynical. The greatest performance for me of any song live ever has to be Rhythm of Life all those years ago at the Point on New Year's Eve, I get goosebumps even thinking of it, they could never produce a performance like that again. I travelled to concert after concert just to wait for the end to hear Gabba and just let fecking loose!

Zombies, as in not moving? At a Prodigy gig?

i think the poster meant zombies as in people eyes in the back of their heads, drooling, jaws doing riverdance! fairly accurate, a lot of people will be off their faces.

Any update on the support act? Can't find any info on it. Pendulum would be unbelievable but I can't see anything to back up the rumours :(

    Hey guys,

Just got the Prodigy tickets sorted....deeeeeeeeeeeeeeelighted :D:D:D

Unfortunately I couldnt get standing tickets, so chose block M.
2 rows in to be exact!

Now when I go to concerts I like to dance and go mad. Is this possible in block M? has anyone been in the M location before, if so, whats the view like etc etc...

    all stories and experiences welcome!

From their website, the support for all gigs in January is Foreign Beggars. Cannot find anything about other dates

Does anyone know how strict the o2 are about crowd segregation? Me and the buddies are planning on getting tickets but it's only tiered seating that is available.

Do you reckon it'd be possible to schnake into the standing area with seated tickets?

Went to Smashing Pumpkins in the RDS before and got away with it.

Like I'd assume the tiered seating area would be utter ****?

I've never had seats at the O2, I always stand, but at KOL last year a few of my friends got into the standing area, when their tickets were scanned they were sent to the seating area but the managed to get in after that.

I've been told that at some gigs they give you wristbands for standing but I'm not sure if this is true!

Those prodigy concerts are pretty intense alright. The amount of people in slane getting their head stood on constantly when they were playing was unbelievable. I have two seating tickets if you feel really uncomfortable about standing..

Need to know, Im going to both prodigy and kasabian seating because standing was sold out

LOL. I can't imagine why anyone would buy tiered seating to that!

Just got my two tickets. :):):)

Well I have two seating tickets because standing was sold out. Although I'm tryna see if I can get in standing because I already saw them in slane standing in the pit.
This is the exact same story for kasabian in the o2 for me aswell

Think I'm gonna sell my ticket for this and head to Soulwaxmas in Belfast the night before - Soulwax live, 2 Many DJs, Tiga, Aeroplane and Mixhell. Disappointed at missing The Prodigy but think I'll have a far better night at Soulwaxmas (though I may well end up going to both!).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

There were a few of us meant to be going, but now its just me....

Thinking about selling, but the thought of missing the prodigy...sinfull.

    Keep it/Sell it?
