Classic Bike Classifieds & Importing

Hi guys,

I've had a quick look through the stickies, but haven't been able to find any decent links.

Are there any decent international classifieds for classic bikes, similar to carandclassic.co.uk in the UK? I've had a look around but am finding it difficult to find anything.

Also, have any of you had experience importing bikes? Is VRT the same formula as for cars, as well as with classic bikes being the same as for classic cars?

Any info is appreciated, thanks guys.

I am not aware of a internet site for Classic Bike sales , but try and get a copy of the monthly Paper old bike mart or you can download it on the interweb

VRT on motorcycles is calculated purely on the engine size and year. I was looking at a second hand supermoto a while back, it was worth getting one a couple of years old with low milage to keep the vrt down.

I did a check on a 1970 350cc and it was zero! Must be no vrt past a certain age.

Over 30 Years VRT Free
VRT in a nutshell
2 Euro a CC up to 350cc
1 Euro a CC from 351 + the 350cc amount
and less 10pc per year from second year
1st year 10 cc deduction after 6 months and 20 pc after 12 Months

ie 650 Honda 2004 August . a rough Guide
2 x 350 = 700 Euro + 400 @ 1 Euro = Total of 1100 Euro - 60% = 440

i use Ebay for trawling for classic bikes, there is always something, never bought a complete runner but bought loads of bits & pieces

Thanks for the replies guys, interesting to see what sources there are.

I also found the website carandclassic.co.uk pretty decent (bike link on the cream coloured toolbar at the top) in case anyone is looking.

If I come across anything else I'll drop it in here.
