Pinging Google.ie

    After posting in the speed test mega thread i notice you're meant to ping google.ie ,After pinging that and boards.ie there's almost 90ms difference between boards and google,Boards being better..

    Is google.ie hosted in the US?And if so why not choose a ping to boards.ie or digiweb or something more local?

    google.ie is hosted in the us.


    Try pinging ftp.heanet.ie

    Yup, Google.ie is hosted in the US. I think people are choosing to ping google.ie under the assumption that it's hosted here because of it's .ie TLD.

    www.heanet.ie makes more sense.

    The Chocolate Factory uses Gooey Cloud stuff. Each search or ping can be different real server in a different country.
