Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Canon EOS 1000D not working

I have an EOS 1000D which has stopped working.

I have charged battery. Taken out the card yet nothing happens.

When I turn on the camera and try to take a picture it tells me it is busy.

What might be wrong? Any solution to problem?

    Thanks a million.

Have your tried it with a different card? If the camera has a shoot without card option try that and make sure everything works without a card and then if it does put in a different card to test.

I have removed the card. When I push button the auto focus starts to focus the red dots come on and I see the word busy flashing on left through the eye piece thing.

    No picture is taken though

But if there's no card in the camera, and the camera doesn't have any internal memory, it's probably designed not to activate as there'll be nowhere for the data to go?

Does the camera work with the memory card installed?

Yes but on some of the canons there is a shoot without card option in the menus. It means the camera focuses and the shutter works but if just discards the photo that is taken.

It does however sound like a problem I had in my old 350D. The camera would focus but wouldnt take a shot or would wait several seconds after I pressed the button before it eventually fired. I never did figure out the problem since the camera was at the end of it's life anyway and I wanted to buy a new 40D. I think it might be worth taking the camera to a local shop and see if they can diagnose the problem with the camera in hand.

Have you tried removing the lens and then reattaching it? I've seen this work for various issues on Canons.

Tried lots of things to fix the 350D none worked, but the thing had been through some rough days while I owned it so I let it have a peaceful death ;)

That said of course try reattaching the lens and maybe cleaning the contacts on the 1000D

It has the no card option but this does not work. Taken off the lens nothing.
