Hi, need to get the wing of my mark 5 golf replaced following an accident last week. Other party was totally in the wrong & wants to put it through their insurance. Going to main VW dealer to it sorted. Seems all main VW garages however outsource all panel beating/ bodywork type repairs. Anyone know of a VW garage in leinster that does this type of work inhouse? Also car is red in colour - told by one garage this would be difficult to match up however McAllistairs VW Garage, Airside Motor Park in Swords seemed to be confident that this would not be an issue. Would be interested in hearing from anyone who has any experience in using McAllistairs VW Garage, Airside Motor Park for bodywork repairs?

I'd be more inclined to use a bodyshop myself.

These guys do top notch work and are in Dublin City Centre

Most, if not all, dealers subcontract their panel beating and crash repairs to bodyshops. Good panel beating is highly specialised and outside the scope of a main dealer. I was hazard a guess that Gregg Martin Crash repairs in Kilbarrack Ind Est do the crash repairs for McAllisters.

Gregg Martins are very good and you would probably save the person who ran into you a lot off their insurance if you go straight to them.

Paint choice is academic as there is a code for the paint of your car and thats what they'll spray. The reason it might not match is that the paint on your car may have faded, but this can be remedied by a polish and wax.

none of them do it inhouse, that's why I never see the point in going through a main dealer for repairs. waste of money!

Well not all the dealers sub out the body works. Kevin Connolly vw/audi in mayo have a pretty hot body shop on site. I guess its easier to do out in the country than in city though due to space/land value etc
