Hi Folks, Nostalgic memories setting in here about Mosney Holiday Camp. In the days when Spain was considered a 'dream Holiday' we were all bused off to Mosney, The Giant Slide with its bumps and the slippy brown coarse mat you sat on, the red and white boats that circled around a small pool and being afaird of falling into the water on exiting, the pool, the community games, Bingo, sunshine...I always remember sunshine then, the chalets ( The neck of them calling those shacks 'chalets' and the supposed romances taking place inside them, doughnuts in suger, candy rock sticks, getting lost, refusing to come in on the boat lake when called, the shows, ...love to hear the stories...:):o

Listening Aengus McAnally in Dan Lowery's bar. He did a summer season there and it was hust after he left the band Mushrom. Empty pint glasses stacked so high you couldn't see across the table, the dining room, the skating rink, the puffin billy, the community games, my first national title, those were the days.

Worked there for two years. Have too many stories to tell. I'd be writing/typing for months (but I am actually doing just that for a book).
I have a LOAD of memorabilia from Mosney (and before that "Butlins").

Here are some useful links you might find interesting:

Some interesting Links there Biggins, whats happening there now? Is is still used as a home for asylum seekers? Did all the attractions get demolished? or is it just trapped in time?

I used to love the go-carts over the other side of the park!! The swans also, have some great memories of the place!

Never stayed overnight but had many great days out there. Remember it all....the Tilt a Whirl(waltzer), Space Round Up, the Octopus which was replaced by the Tempest - where loads of people puked! The umbrella type ride..The big red bumpy slide. The indoor amusement arcade with Morgana (I think) who'd tell your fortune. The radio jingle 'mosney, holiday centre...mosney by the sea!'

Still have that tape to this day! Me and my sisters couldn't get enough of it, probably drove our parents mad listening to it. I still think the clap clap song is one of the most underrated musical pieces ever to come out of ireland...

If i die, i pray Mosney is my heaven. I went there every year, and worked there in 1999. I have lots of VHS footage of the camp, but no way to get it onto youtube. I also have the "faith, hope and a chalet key" documentary on video. I want to add them onto the internet, an if/when i do, they will be over on the butlins memories website. I added a lot of the photos on there (my name is the same Peter138).

There are just too many memories. You should also check out the bebo page to bring back Mosney.
