    Hello,

I was in HMV in Dundrum earlier and they were playing a song that I really liked but I'd never heard it before and I don't know what it's called or who it's by. I had saved what I thought were the lyrics and have been Googling but am unable to find it so far.

I can't remember exactly but the lyrics go something like "I know I let you down" and there seems to be some sort of a sax or trumpet sounding instrument in the song. It also fades out with "na na na na na na.." It was sung by a guy.

Sorry I know this is a bit vague but any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

Baker Street is a good enough tune, unfortunately it's not the one I heard yesterday.

Could it be the greatest song in the world... ...KC and the Sunshine Band's Give It Up??

Nope. I get the impression it's a recent song, maybe only a few months or years released at most. The "na na na na" bit is only at the end as it fades out.

What style of music was it?

I guess it was pop-ish/rock. It definitely wasn't rap or hip hop or anything like that.

I probably should have just asked one of the assistants what the song was called but being a guy, of course I refuse to ask for help :)

The one you heard could be a remix of the old Ph.Ds' I Won't Let You Down song

Could it be David Bowie - 'never let me down'.

Totally off topic, but he was once in a band with Billy Connolly.

Can't help with the song but a tip I always do is just get 2-3 words of the lyrics which would not often be together, then if you search in "quotes" in google it will only show hits with the words in that exact order.

Thanks for all the replies so far, unfortunately I still haven't managed to find the elusive song.

:P I thought that it was that too, but there's no 'na na na' in it. grandmaster, go back into that shop and ask them.

:P ...I actually found that song too but didn't hear any 'na na na' at the end. Let's wait until the OP gets back. I've made finding and then downloading songs that Iv'e heard in places a hobby, and I therefore have vested interest in this thread.

I have started using the voice recorder on my phone to record interesting songs on the radio etc when i'm away from home, then check them out when i get back.:o

Hmm, I'd probably do that too if I had a flashy-enough phone! No, I just write the words of the song into a SMS on my phone and then put them into Google when I get back. A memorable song that I got this way is Bedouin Soundclash's When the night hears my song

Nice tune, but I don't think that's it either.

Also I'm a big Oasis fan so I know it's definitely not All Around the World.

I remember there was a company in England a few years ago who launched this service whereby when you were in a bar or club and you heard a song, you dialled up this number and connected the call for something like 5 seconds or 30 seconds, I can't remember which. Then once you hung up, it would text you back the name of the song and the artist.

Then once you hung up, it would text you back the name of the song and the artist.
And theres a website where you tap out the tune on the keyboard and it comes up with suggestions.
