    Hey Ashley,

First of all thanks for deliverying the new 42PFL9664H yesterday. Had a quick play with it and so far it's great!

When I was in the shop previously one of the assistants said I'd be able to pick up the BBC HD preview channel on it.

How do I do this? My provider is UPC (no SKY dish etc).

    Thanks

Unless you have the new NTL HD box you won't be able to get BBC Hd. The only other way is via satelite i.e Sky HD or Freesat etc.

    Hi There

Glad your enjoying it - it is a stunningly good TV isn't it....

As yet no one is broadcasting BBC HD via MPEG4 in Ireland as yet.
But you do have 3 options.
    1) Freesat HD box via sat will give you BBC HD
    2) UPC HD gives you approx 6 HD channels inc BBC HD
    3) Sky HD gives you BBC HD along with many other HD channels.

If you have any questions regarding the set up of your TV please post 'em up here and I'll answer 'em or give me a buzz on 01 474 0788 and I'll talk you through it.

1st suggestion - make sure its in the Personal Settingsmode in pitchure settings and turn the sharpness way down to 1 or 2 - the out of box default is too high I feel.

    Have a good weekend
    Ash

Thanks for the info Ash. I'll play around with a few different sources and tweak the settings.

Have to say great TV. The one thing that struck me apart from the pic quality is the sound. Surprisingly good for in built speakers.

Anyway, thanks again for all your help.

And to John Mc for the discount! :D I'll be back for more!

    IRL,

Thanks again for the post - and I know I keep banging on about the Audio quality on the new 54/74/84 Philips sets but it really is soooo far ahead of ANY competitor at the moment it's untrue!

Glad you are enjoying the 8404 and again thanks for the kind comments and the business - it's much appreciated!

    ATB,

    John Mc
