Looking for advice on rads replacement in a single-pipe system

I am unfortunate enough to have single-pipe heating system installed in my apartment (building is about 30 years old). Pipes are buried within concrete floor so replacing it at the moment is not an option.

Few years ago we have updated our boiler to condensing one but unfortunately the crew that did it for one reason or another did not take on a job of replacing old radiators... Along with boiler replacement they charged us for system flush though I am not sure if that has actually happened as we still get a lot of trapped air and have to bleed radiators regularly.

Now, we are in need of replacing at least several radiators and I am looking for advice applicable to single-pipe system:

    What Rads?
I heard general recommendations for both Quinn Compact (http://www.quinn-radiators.com/index.cfm/section/products/display/7/item/16/compact.htm) and Elegance (http://www.rvr.ie/Product_Groups/0_46_59_60/) radiators. As far as I have been told not all modern rads work equally well with hot water convection principle employed in a single-pipe heating system. Am I better off opting for one type/make of rads over another and why? Which one?

I am also attaching a picture of my typical rad. Any additional insight on replacing them is welcome.

    Manual Valves vs TRVs
From what I read on the web - TRVs and single-pipe systems do not mix well. Thus I am thinking of opting for manual valves. Any recommendation regarding good manual valves that give good degree of control and are compatible with my system and suggested rads?

    Auxiliary heating source
I need from time to time to up temperature in one of the north facing rooms. Kicking off entire central heating to heat just one room does not make sense so I am looking at adding in this room only an auxiliary electric radiator. It has to be wall mounted as floor space is at a premium. So far I have found this one from RVR.ie (http://www.rvr.ie/Product_Groups/0_46_195/) but they are a bit costly. Anyone can recommend another option or two? (In case anyone wonders – using ordinary fan heater is not an option as it makes air in the room extremely dry).

    Suppliers/Plumbers
If you can recommend either or both – pls do so.

Any input /recommendations would be highly appreciated
