Cyprus v Ireland tomorrow night. HUGE game. We just want any sort of a win, to keep Bulgaria off of our backs for good. I fancy Montenegro to get something in Sofia tomorrow.

This is how the group looks atm:

Team MP W D L GF GA Pts
    Italy 6 4 2 0 9 3 14
    Ireland7 3 4 0 8 5 13
    Bulgaria 6 1 5 0 6 4 8
    Cyprus 6 1 2 3 6 9 5
    Mont. 6 0 4 2 5 8 4
    Georgia 7 0 3 4 4 9 3

All things going well tomorrow, we could have the play-off spot all but secured.

I fancy us to get the win, we've looked impressive in all of our away games so far, it's at home we've struggled to be honest. Having said that, I'll take a scrappy 1-0 every time.

Well, we got the win, but it wasn't as convincing as I'd have hoped. But as I said, I just wanted the win.

The group now looks like this:

    Team P W D L F/A Pts
    1 Italy 7 5 2 0 11 / 3 17
    2 Ireland 8 4 4 0 10 / 6 16
    3 Bulgaria 7 2 5 0 10 / 5 11
    4 Cyprus 7 1 2 4 7 / 11 5
    5 Montenegro 7 0 4 3 6 / 12 4
    6 Georgia 8 0 3 5 4 / 11 3

Bulgaria get something against Italy on Wednesday, and top spot is well in our own hands.

    United v City tomorrow.

Undoubtedly the biggest match of the season so far.

I really hope Tevez plays, hope he goes deaf from the boos. That's all I'm saying about him here, or else I'll get banned :D

Harps were on the receiving end of a 5-0 drubbing, really hope UCD go up since they're a really good passing side with the necessary physical attributes.

Leeds v Liverpool coming on in a few minutes.

    Never thought I'd say this.........but......

    C'MON LEEDS!!!

    (I feel dirty now) :D

Should that goal have been disallowed? This Cavilieri lad in goals for Liverpool looks dodgy to me.

Was definitely a goal. Very entertaining first half anyway! :)

Boooooooooo to Leeds losing...although they did play well at least. On for MK Dons now on Saturday:D

More trials for gaelic tonight...pity my knee is destroyed from mondays session(not the drinking kind), so tough to walk, let alone run. Stupid all-weather pitch.

Play-off draw for Ireland on tomorrow at 1pm.

    Seeded teams:
    France
    Greece
    Portugal
    Russia

    Unseeded teams:
    Bosnia-Herzegovina
    Ireland
    Slovenia
    Ukraine

With a bit of luck, we'll draw Greece.

We could take France over two legs at a push, purely because Domenech is possibly the worst manager in living memory (though Maradona is doing his best to take that title) and it's a mystery how he's still in a job at all, nevermind the France job. Benzema has been poor so far this season, and Henry isn't the player he was when we played them in 05, although he's obviously still capable of the odd moment of magic.

While Portugal are an average enough team minus Ronaldo, the pure necessity to use 2 or 3 players to mark him out of the game is going to leave gaps for the rest to exploit. They're on a good run of form too. Could possibly go to extra-time if we're lucky.

Russia should be the team we look to avoid most. The tactical knowledge and prowess of Hiddink is a daunting enough prospect to take on, without even taking into account the quality at his disposal. Arshavin, Zhirkov, and Pogrebnyak could quite possibly tear us to shreds at will.

I'll admit I don't know a great deal about Greece, but they finished 2nd in the weakest group of the 9, a point behind Switzerland (who lost to Luxembourg in qualifying), and only 3 ahead of Latvia.

Either way, I'm delighted we're at this stage, and no matter who we play, I'll be watching from behind the sofa with the nerves. I was only 8 for the 2002 WC, and I loved it. Major tournaments are so much more magical when we're there ;)

    So it's France then.

Bring on the Cheese-eating surrender monkeys!

France we're the 2nd best we could've hoped for I think. Will be close enough, hopefully can snatch one. Or, as my mate said, he hopes the French-being French-will surrender immediately:D

    Also, Jermaine Beckford, thank you!

When yee have both a manager and a 30-33 player panel you will be doing well. Yee'll just manage to stay in league division 1 you'll lose to Tipperary n the munster semi, then beat whoever in the qualifiers and then it depends on your draw :D
Thats your season in a nutshell, unless theres a strike :P

Waterford on the other hand.. We're going far this year :pac:

    ha, far from winning!
Lose to Clares new young team of u21s, hit the qualifiers where we'll meet you and beat you :)
Oh and do you even want me to sum up your football team because I will if ya want? :pac:

edit: and yes, we will prob be in the qualifiers :( that, i agree with.

Now in fairness (this is really bad but) I figures out our minor, under 21, intermediate and senior tems all lost our to the eventual winners :) That is nothing to be ashamed of!
And we could/should have beaten the clare under 21's... In the first 15mins there was goal chances that should have been taken and Shanahan was on injections (for an injury lol) so we wernt at our best.

However I garuntee you our senior team will be in the Munster final this year again :) Ill even go as far to say they'll be in the AI semis.

Oh football who honestly follows that properly! :pac:

    Ok then.

So Deise, you gonna be heading to any league games soon? :)
It does start in february after all :D
Who do you think will get relegated?
I'll be honest, not looking good for us if we stay the way we are. Although I haven't heard much about the county situation lately although McCarthy has stayed on due to a majority verdict in keeping him on during a county board meeting.

    Maybe Offaly though. *prays*

I have to say I'd be worried for yee if you dont get your act together with McCarthy.. But I think Offaly will really struggle too, so I'd say Offaly will go back down.

And yeh but he only stayed on by around 18 votes I think? Thats not great.. Tbh I think if they cant get the backing of players yee're in a right muck of things coz it will end up you playing with mainly intermediate/underage or Justin will have to walk. I'd feel bad if he had to leave another county again, I really think he could have brought Limerick up!!

ye were screwed over by kerry last year.
Imagine if ye beat them. Feckin' kerry goalie saving that penalty at the end was sickening.
    Connacht title, maybe? :)
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a munster football title this year.
Last year against cork in the munster final = one of the worst days ever!

Awww thats a horrible draw!! Its like poor Limerick in hurling. They have to play the winners of Cork/Tipp to get into the final not a chance! :pac:

We've gotten soft draws the last fews years I must say. Clare for this year, last year Limerick, the year before Clare and the winner played Limerick.. But we dont need to speak of '08's Munster game Lol :P

I was about to reply with an eek smiley, before I realised you were talking about the hurlers.

The footballers are done for a few years methinks. The whole panel needs a shake-up. Some of the players might switch to hurling this year.

Unfortunately we're on Kilkenny's side of the draw in Leinster, so it's going to have to be through the back door to get into the AI.

All things going well, hopefully I'll get to a few league games this year.

Yesss. Training tomorrow is cancelled cos of the snow. Have barely been the past few months though. I'm only making it up to like 2 or 3 sessions a week. Think my new years resolution is going to be to quit swimming.

dude, I wouldn't say that tbf.
Kilkenny aren't as strong as they used to be (may i remind deise of the '08 final ;)).
Ye nearly bate them last year in the leinster final. I'd say ye'd have a great chance of beating them. Although you'll prob end up meeting Galway in the final. Ouch!

Waterford are in too!! I think we lost to London or somewhere last year
Im gonna be mean and say Kilkenny are going to win the Lenster final this year, maybe in a shock of things (thanks to Canning of course) Galway will beat them but no one else in Leinster will.
I agree Kilkenny are sliding down but I still dont think its enough for other teams to catch up on, yet.
I think Dublins year is still awaiting, but Daly is some manager so you never know I suppose!

They may not be as strong as they were, but they are still light-years ahead of us, we're still a young team.

And no, we didn't really nearly beat them. We lost by 6, and anytime Kilkenny needed to pull away from us, they simply went and knocked a couple of points over, no hassle.

If we did beat Kilkenny then Galway would certainly be nothing to fear in the final, but as I said, I really don't see it happening.

Ye were staying with them for most of the game.
They just have the experience of pulling away towards the end. Same with Limerick in the quarter final.
Well, imo, ye do have a chance. Seriously man, optimism is the way to go :D
