    BYO is a great idea.

Far more restaurants should be doing it as wine is a pure rip off.

Do the BYO restaurants charge for 'corking' the wine?

Of the ones I mentioned, I have only been in the Royal Tandoori in Terenure, and they don't charge. They are also ok with you bringing in beer, or whatever you want.

I believe the max charged by any of the others is a fiver.

Great if they don't charge as that is usually the catch.

If there is a corking charge, how does that work with beer?

I believe - but am open to correction - that you pay one fee for all the drink you bring in.

Keshk on Leeson Street don't charge corkage on bottles of wine. I have been a few times with my Dad for lunch and bought wine in the shops next door. Never taken beer in mind you, or seen it being drank in there. The food is amazing though so well worth heading along with your wine. Works out alot cheaper aswell!
