2 service/pension records exist for James Keetings from Tipp and in Artillery. One from Fethard b1877/78 enlisted 1902 and the other from Knockloft(?) b1888 enlisted 1916. This was a quick look so there could be others. There are James Keatings from Tipp in other units.

the chap from Fethard appears to have died in 1919. The chap from Knockloft was declared a deserter in October 1916

I don't have his medal cards, don't even know what his service number was :(
I was hoping if Irish regiments had stand alone artillery it would be easier to find him, cheers arnhemm44

Sir - WW1 regiments do not have their own artillery attached to them - that is a German WW2 'invention' for the purpose of carrying out the 'Blitzkrieg'.

As the previous poster noted, Divisions had an Artillery Brigade attached to them for support - softening up the opposition so that our own troops could attack the opposing trenches with equanimity.

In order to do just about anything, you'll need to find out his regimental number, and be prepared for an eventual disappointment - a very large number of WW1 records were destroyed in the London Blitz.
