    Hi,

I have been unwell for a number of years, fatigue, aches and pains (flu symptoms) headaches, not sleeping well. I have to say from the outside I look fine, but inside I'm not right. I have been to the GP for many blood tests and nothing unusual showed up.

In the last few months I now have developed arthritis symptoms, after doing some research on the internet I came up with the possibility that I had Lymes Disease.

A few weeks ago, I went to my GP and asked to get a blood test for Lymes, he was not convinced I had it but sent my blood for testing.

The test came back negative for Lymes, I think I was tested for about 8 things in all and everything was normal.

But I still fell terrible, I find it hard to work, it's difficult to sleep, I know theres something wrong with me and it's getting worse. I'm still not convinced that I don't have Lymes.

Does anyone know of anywhere in Ireland that specialise in Lymes disease testing?

Guys, lets not try to go down the road of remote diagnosis here, I'm leaving this thread open for specific information only, namely:

I don't know of any specialists dealing with Lyme Disease in Ireland but there is a boards.ie member called Tick Talk who has a Facebook page dedicated to Lyme Disease. It's here :http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=44960753282 . I've just had a look through it and it has some links with information that you can take to your doctor with a section on blood testing if you are concerned about having Lyme disease .Maybe it might be of interest to you or somebody on that page could point you in the right direction of a specialist in Ireland.

From what I've read alot of Irish people seem to go to doctors in the UK to be diagnosed with Lyme. Some people use private labs in the US and EU to have their blood tested. Diagnosis of the condition can be controversial with some believing the most common testing procedures provide alot of false negatives. Others believe that less common tests provide too many false positives and results in people having unnecessary treatmeants. I think the best thing to do is read up yourself as much as you can and then discuss any questions with your doctor. There's a yahoo support group that is supposed to provide alot of helpful information called Eurolyme:http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EuroLyme/ .It might be worth investigating there too.

Good luck and I hope you find some answers.
