Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you get penalty points for speeding in northern ireland, can they put them onto a republic of ireland driving licence??

I don't think they can transfer points on to your Irish Drivers licence, however, you are generlly ordered to make a court appearence up the North to pay your fine, if in the event you receive a fine in the post. Its the hassle invloved in going up and I believe that even though its not within The Republic jurisdiction, you have to go to court up there.

I recall reading about cross-border co-operation between Eire and NI on motoring offences and talk of motorists being forced to pay fines where they reside. As for penalty points, I will be surprised if some EU official is not working on points being valid anywhere in Europe. Here in the UK motorcyclists and motorists are a source of revenue for the Chancellor (Finance Minister).

Yep, the Irish government already accounced that mutual recognition of disqualifications with the UK is coming soon once the legalities are sorted. No mention of penalty points.

I read somewhere that this is indeed in the pipeline.
