Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Limerick Camera Clubs and Courses?

Just starting out with an SLR, and I'm looking for (a) a club or society to join, and (b) a photography course to get my teeth stuck into (both in Limerick)

Yes, I have read the stickies and used google (Limerick Camera Club and Limerick & District Photography Club seem to be the main ones), but I'm looking for recommendations from members (and maybe finding out about other clubs that may not be as well known but are just as worthy of checking out).

I'm also looking for a digital photography course in the city. I've been tempted by IOP's distance learning course, but I'd rather do something more structured. With September fast approaching, I'm sure there is one starting up somewhere?

    Thanks in advance....

There is also the University of Limerick Photo soc. (http://www.photo.ul.ie )

Dont think you hhave to be a student to join and they do organise different talks/courses/trips away (at student rates)

Might be worth a look into. im waiting till i upgrade to a Dslr later on in the year to attend, but will be looking into it when the time comes!

Limerick College of Further education offers a couple of Fetac accredited courses. I did one last spring as a complete newbie to photography and I thought the course was extremely good. The instructor was superb also.

This is the course I did:

and I hoping to do the b&w / darkroom course this coming autumn:

    Hope this helps

I am thinking of doing the fetac course at LCFE. I did a landscape course with Martin O'Connor www.limerickphotostudio.com which was great fun, he advised me to go and do the course at LCFE

You should go along to a meeting or two at each of the clubs & see which one suits you the best. Each club is going to be a bit different.

I do not know anything specific about any of the clubs in the area.
