I know this thread has been done several times over the years, but I can't seem to find anything recent.
I'm looking for apx 8 railway sleepers for the back garden, prefereably the older ones. I'm in the Dublin 13 area and am just wondering if anyone has bought any recently and where the best/cheapest place to buy them is.

(If I've posted this in the wrong section, please feel free to move)

    Thanks

Thanks - when I did a search I got old posts from 2007, so this is very helpful.

You can buy new "sleepers" now, pressure treated (tanalith E or similar) softwood, 200x 125mm in section or similar and being free of creosote they are nice to work with and won't feck up your tools or hands.

saw them in home base in santry the other week. They are not the old ones. I am pretty sure they are not allowed sell them anymore as the creosote is toxic. Not sure about price or length.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, I'm all sorted now - got some from a local builder who had a few left over from a job - they are the old ones and he gave them to me at a good price and delivered them too - they weigh a ton!
