    Hey,

I am looking for suggestions of where to live in Dublin - there is two of us that want to share an apartment/house. . . But theres a catch - one works in Blanchardstown and one in Stillorgan, but neither want to do the M50 thing..!! That and I refuse to spend over 1200 euro a year on the M50..!

So were lookin for seomwhere nice, safe to walk around and ok commuting times for us both..!

    Thanks for any suggestions..!!!

Stillorgan is reachable by public transport, as is Blanch.

However, because there is hardly any connected-up links over the river, one of you is going to have to bite the bullet and use either bus/train bus/luas bus/bus.

So, until you tell us which one that is going to be, coming up with suggestions is going to be kinda hard.

For a start, and because I know the Northside better than the Southside, I would recommend anywhere along the 140 or 128 bus routes. Both cross the Liffey (128 is Coolock to Ranelagh, 140 is Finglas to Leeson Street).

In fact, the 140 would be handy for getting to Blanch, as it crosses paths with various Blanch busses.

Both busses would leave you fairly near the Luas Green Line, which has a stop in Stillorgan.

See thats a bit of a deal breaker..!!

We both do part-time courses and play sport during the week, so we both need our cars with us - were talkin Tallaght, DCU and Dun Laoghire and Dundrum..!
We both need the cars after work 3-5 days a week..!!

The best thing you could do is live in the city center or near it,that should keep you both happy.

Blanch, like most suburbs outside the city, has lousy public transport so your choice is to either live in Blanch, or else live elsewhere and commute, almost invariably by car. The Dart does go near Blanch, but it's nothing of a well connected service.

Living on the Luas Green line would be best, with easy access to the Green and city centre for nights out, and one of you will also be able to use it for work.

As above, you are each working on opposite sides of the city. Basically the reasonable thing is city centre, somewhere are Harcourt, IFSC even, etc., etc., .

Yeah I'd suggest somewhere on the Quays or around the IFSC, it will need to be town to suit you both!

Why not go to Lucan? If you both have cars then it would be handy. The back roads over the river will get you to Blanch in about 20 mins and it's easy to get onto the M50 southbound after the toll now that the N4 junction is finished. It would be cheaper to rent than in town....you could even get a whole house and it's nice and safe to walk around in. Go Lucan!!:D

The Dart does not go anywhere near Blanchardstown.

no but a train does...clonsilla and coolmine stations etc

you mention money about the M50, is it just the toll you have an issue with? rather than the road itself

if so then lucan/celbridge/leixlip may be an idea

as mentioned you can get to blanch on back roads and the other person can go onto M50 and head to sandyford with no toll

How about Templeogue or Terenure? About 30 mins in the car from Stillorgan and 40 mins from Blanchardstown. The R112 goes to Stillorgan Road and to the Galway Road. From Galway Road you can drive to Blanchardstown through Strawberry Beds and Castleknock.
