Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Please only post Soccer related bets,we have a gambling forum and we don't want to be steeping on anybodies toes.

Ok I will get us off the mark,I like the look of this one...

    Torres and liverpool double
Torres to be top scorer and liverpool to win the premiership is 11/1. ;)

What bets are people putting on for the opening games of the season?

And obviously any football related threads in the gambling forum are still ok there too.

Bambury's are offering Man City at 14/1 to win the league. Might stick a couple of yo yo's on it as a good outside bet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,459 ✭✭✭T-b0n3

You'd have to fancy both Chel and Man u to win comfortably. But the double is slightly less than 2 to 1 on afaik, which is short. Could always go with both teams to win (-1), be better odds.

I'm too broke to have a bet this weekend but I know I wont be able to stop myself :D

France HT/ France FT (should win)

    For the weekend I like:

Stoke to beat Burnley @ 10-11
Sheffield Utd to beat Watford @ 4-6
Celtic to beat Aberdeen @ 4-6

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Is about 13/2 decent odds for the "Big Four" to win this weekend?

If you add Man City, odds become just over 15/1!

    Fixtures

    Saturday

    Chelsea vs Hull
    Blackburn vs Man City
    Everton vs Arsenal

    Sunday

    Man Utd vs Birmingham
    Spurs vs Liverpool

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,855 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

Opening weekend fixtures are always somewhat dodgy, look at Newcastle drawing at OT last year on the first day for example. Chelsea and Utd should win comfortably enough, but Liverpool and Arsenal have tricky games though. I would not include City this early in the season either, but then again multi team accumulators are only a bit of fun anyways.

The PL Relegation market had some value a while back, Pompey are in to 7/5 today with PP when they were 7/2 a few weeks ago :(

Hull @ 5/6 is guaranteed money if you can afford to tie some up until next May.

Wigan @ 4/1 good value for anyone?

The PL Handicap betting has proven lucrative for me the last two years (Arsenal followed by Fulham both paying)

    Everton (+26) @ 15/1, Sunderland (+38) @ 12/1 and Blackburn (+40) @ 15/1 are all worth a look. I reckon a handicap total of 90pts will win this coming season.

I agree but I just have a feeling about Arsenal this season and Everton haven't brought in anyone half-decent (they only retained Jo).

I just fancy Liverpool will turnover Spurs.

theres an interesting special on the spurs v liverpool match

torres to outscore defoe in 90min (both players must start) 2/1

that's the tricky bit,we just dont know what strikers spurs will start off with but it's a bet to keep an eye on

Did a small bet on Gerrard for top scorer - he won't be I'm sure but 21.00 e/w to 4 places seems a fair fun punt.

This weekend I've gone for a small bet accu 6 folds from 7

    MK Dons And Draw
    VfB Stuttgart
    Celtic
    Chelsea (-1.0)
    Coventry
    Leeds
    Notts County

First week in the prem is always a bit of a lottery.

    Barring that,
Villa have to be bankers this weekend. Wigan have lost valencia, cattermole, etc and haven't been too impressive pre-season. Probably put them in with Man City and Chelsea man u. Pays just over 4 to 1 on betfair.

Other than that Arsenal are a big price against Everton. 2.3

Thank fcuk it's back though. :D

Man City away from home last year were atrocious - I would wait and see what they are like before i start backing them away from Eastlands.

I've started with 50e in my boylesports account. Going to bet a maximum 20% of my balance on each round of league games. Hopefully it'll build up over the season...

    This weekend, I've gone for:

    Singles:

    Blackburn vs Man City 19/10
    Everton vs Arsenal 2/1

    Double:

    Villa vs Wigan
    Stoke vs Burnley

Didn't the Big Four all win together on the one weekend only a couple of times last season?

Madness to back Man City for anything, this early, imo.

Couldn't agree more, as i said first day's a bit of a lottery anyway. might do a sizeable treble on villa, utd, chelsea (7-5 on betfair) and an interest bet on the fourfold with City (4-1).

I think that you might be confusing that with the weekend where none of the big 4 won.

Rooney & Lampard anytime score double anyone? pays out roughly 3-1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,555 ✭✭✭Gillington

Think Ill just do a double on Villa and City this week.Or might throw Chelski in for a treble aint decide yet.The treble pay 43.33 for 10 with PP.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,657 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

ill be looking at the liverpool came very closely

if Gerrard misses out i would presume yossi will take his position and he's always good for a goal from that position. 4/1 to score anytime

im hoping yossi will make me more money this season to come

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,657 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

just looking at the pp EPL specials for the weekend

    0 red cards is 4/1

    interesting one^^

Teams to score the most goals this weekend
    http://www.paddypower.com/football/football-specials/premier-league-specials?ev_oc_grp_ids=112962

I said in the prediction thread i see a spur v liverpool draw but the odds on liverpool being top scorers is 11/1 is very good imo

bassong will be playing, woodgate is injured and the others are doubts

    worth a fiver

    arsenal

at 14/1 is also very interesting

Portsmouth Hull and Burnley to go down was 25/1 last week when I got it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,478 ✭✭✭Bubs101

For me the following in the Premiership standout. All prices from Betfair
Arsenal to win the league 9/1
    Eduardo top scorer 25-1
Top English goalscorer: Ebans Blake 29-1 and Carlton Cole 25-1

    Best weekend bet
Portsmouth and Fulham to draw 12/5 and 0-0 8.5/1
In the last 3 seasons Fulham have won 10 away games out of 57 which is appalling while Portsmouth's home record is always respectable. Pompey still have a fairly respectable team with james, Distin and Krancjar but lack options up front

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Nah, I think Fulham @ 7/4 is a fantastic bet. Past records count for naught.

Portsmouth have lost Johnson, Crouch, Davis, Campbell, Lauren, Little, Pamarot and Thomas and have only brought in Steve Finnan.

They only have David Nugent as a recognised striker afaik and he is only championship level imho.

If they don't get that takeover sorted, they'll be a wholesale clearout in January.

On another note, 4/1 for no red cards seems a great bet.

    .

Past records count for everything if they are so consistent. If in the past 3 years Fulham have never won more than 3 away games in a season what makes you think they'll turn it around. Massive new signing?

As George Hook says, "Sport has no memory".

Portsmouth are a shadow of the team that began the 08/09 season (Defoe, Crouch, Campbell, Distin, Diarra, Glen Johnson, Davis all gone among other squad players) and Fulham are the same team minus Jimmy Bullard.

Also, the club is rife with instability with the takeover hitting a brick wall. At one stage, there was only 15 outfield players in the Portsmouth squad!

If Fulham fail to win, by all means PM me and say "I told you so!" :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,478 ✭✭✭Bubs101

I'm not betting on the quality of the Pompey squad, I'm betting on the consistant poorness of Fulham away from home in the Premiership. Anyway, Pompey are by no means the worst team in the league this year.

I know the old saying is that form is temporary and class is permanent but in football betting form is always where you find the value
