Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. For midweek looking at:

    Chelsea to beat Sunderland 4-7
Sheffield Utd to beat Leicester 5-6
Wigan to beat Wolves @ 4-5
Spurs to beat Hull @ 1-1

Not sure what combo's yet but maybe all 4 or dropping Spurs for a treble. Tottenham have a habit of blowing up and Hull looked alright on Sat but still Spurs should just be good enough to win. Hmmm

    Premier League

    Sunderland vs Chelsea
    Burnley vs Man Utd
    Liverpool vs Stoke
    Hull vs Spurs

    Champions League Qualifier

    Celtic vs Arsenal

    ODDS from PP:

    Big 4 to win 4/1

Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs to win 11/2

    Are those good bets?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,478 ✭✭✭Bubs101

4/1 when three of the big 4 are playing away and one of them is playing a team with a ferociously good home record in the competition should be avoided IMO

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,377 ✭✭✭Warper

Celtic have one of the best home records in Europe - if I was backing anyone in this match it would be Celtic.

Arsenal v Celtic could be dodgy enough, what bookies did you get them odds from?

Here Redzer, why are you doing that 'pick one from each section' betting?

You can get odds of nearly 40/1 on the 5 games you've selected if you put them in a normal accumulator.

Not a chance - the more I think about it the better I fancy Celtic's chances. Arsenal wont have the fight for it when they see the stadium going wild.

    From Paddy Power?

Yeah, on reading your post I thought that 18/1 was far too low for those 5 games.

It's pretty much 40/1 if you use PP online.

Yeah, that's right...just worked it out there!

think i may follow rasta and go for a london double

ill give it another day until i bet, just want to make sure there's no injuries etc

I'm worried about Spurs in that game so I may half the bet to €25 and throw Arsenal in or do a €50 Arsenal/Chelsea double.

I think Arsenal will destroy Celtic tomorrow, just waiting for the lineups before betting. I also expect Wigan to beat Wolves at home so some value midweek.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,377 ✭✭✭Warper

Regards the 1 from each section bet - the coupon normally states the minimum odds you are guaranteed eg 18-1 for 1 from each section. This is the minimum you will get. If the 5 teams you select happen to create bigger odds (almost always will as there are no combinations that would pay less than the stated price) you get paid the better odds eg 40-1. Its merely a way of getting the punter to pick more selections and the choices get harder as you go down the panel. You should always pick your own selections as the bookie wants to influence your match-choice.

BTW anyone looking for a decent punt on a season-long bet could do a lot worse than back Galatasaray to win the Europa Cup. They are 40-1 with Ladbrokes only, no-where else has them bigger than 33-1. Rijkaard is their new manager and they have made some good signings including Elano. They are brilliant at home (their fans are psychotic) and are very offensive. The UEFA Cup has a habit if throwing up winners that are not from the main leagues and at 40-1 they are over-priced and should be backed.

im not a fan of long term bets

but I am thinking of going for mon to be the first manager to be sacked in the PL

    20/1

and i contacted pp about resignation

    they replied

This market will be settled on next Premier League manager to leave his position whether their contract is terminated or they resign.

Swore never to back Celtic again but dont even think I can oppose them tomorrow night even after Arsenal's opening day success.Somethin about Parkhead on Champs League nights really lifts Celtics game so will stay away from it.Reckon I'll do a double,Wigan and someone else.Better get on Wigan early though as I reckon those odds will shorten bigtime tomorrow.

I've decided a Wigan win is the only thing I'm touching this week.

    8/11 on Betfair!

Inter look like their bringing in Sneijder who should be the playmaker that they were desperately missing. Had tipped it to be very close before that news in my preview but if Sneijder comes in I'd expect Inter to win again

He would be a great signing alright and Juventus' main concern is their strikers. Trezeguet and Del Piero are not the players they were and Iaquinta, Amauri are average enough.

The big problem with Juve's strikers is that their all good but none of them are extremely good meaning we keep swapping between them and none of them gets a big return. Last year Alex, Amauri and Iaquinta got 39 between them which is pretty good but Alex has to decline eventually
