On my way home from work at about 5pm I say a very big police motorbike escort happening for a Hearse, stopping traffic at every junction. Went from Sandymount towards the N11 and up towards Stillorgan. I'm wondering who it was, anyone know?

Isn't it standard? I know when my cousin was getting buried years ago... we got a Garda escort... It was from Cabra church (Precious Blood) to the cemetery in Mulhuddart...

    Therein lies the answers!

Standard practice for large funerals in main Dublin arterial routes.

Yep, it probably wasn't anyone "famous".

When we buried a friend a few years ago we had a Garda escort from the funeral home to the church - on a Saturday evening in the Coolock/Artane area. Then on the monday morning too.

It may have been Stuart Mangan, the young rugby player who died in London last week.

There was a service in Mount Merrion last night I think.
