    Your UNI LGBT society

    Which Uni by the way

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

It depends. If you're scene-y and like making friends with people purely by virtue of the fact that they're homosexual, then Belong To would be for you. Same for your college LGB soc. However, I found that there was nothing that the respective members had in common other than their same-sex sexual orientation. Beyond that I found it difficult to relate to them. But that's just me; others there seemed to make friends quickly and frequently and generally had a good time. Going out with the attitude of wanting to make gay friends will inevitably lead to making friends with a certain subculture of gays.

It really does depend - some people can find LGBT Societies fake - others find them very welcoming - So just go along and decide for yourself

Also - maybe join Queerid.com and Gaire.com - they have regular social meetups of all their members

Pretty much. LGBT societies are basically all about the socialising. If you're a scene person anyway, you'll do well.

In what way fake. It is what it is and in that sense it's not fake.

Look all i'm saying is that the people you meet in ucd lgbt society are themselves a ends to a means. I've met some nice gay people before but the vast majority tend to be self serving queens with their own agenda. If your like that yourself, then by all means go ahead. If you prefer to meet decent people with a brain in their head and enough common sense then i suggest you look elsewhere for friends.

Societies like society in general is what you make it. Every years there's an influx of new blood, things change. I never really took to LGBT soc's for much the reasons outlined by Aard.
