Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

gunns have 4gb for 37euro, thats a pretty good price. and its the 30mb/s version

it makes a difference uploading, can make a big difference clearing the buffer depending on what card you used before. cards arent really as fast as they are rated. usually the bigger the capacity the slower it will be. a sandisk 4gb 30mb/s card will be a little quicker than 8gb 30mb/s

Would it be better to buy two 4gb cards instead of an 8gb card kumate_champ07?:)

imo yes. would be more expensive tho

SanDisk Extreme III 1GB, Kingston Ultimate 133X 2GB* are both faster than SanDisk Extreme III 30MB/s Edition 8GB(266X)
    (eos 40d)

u can pick your camera from a list. its strange that for the 40d the 8gb ducati is faster than 4gb by .1mb, generally its not the case

that data is for clearing the camera buffer, the results for data transfer between card and computer might not corelate

Faster cards are normally only needed for

    (a) Sustained bursts of RAW images
    (b) Video recording

There's always a tradeoff with cards of size/price/security.

You have to trade the risk of 'putting all your eggs in one basket' and therefore losing a whole shoot - versus the other risk of changing cards (bent/worn pins etc.). I have found Sandisk very reliable, and would never use any other brand.

However, personally, like all electrical equipment, I try them out for a while before using for real. The classic tendancy is for products to fail very early or close to the end of their specified lives.
(or if you have a warranty - 1 day after the warranty expires :D )
