Best Bill-Pay Price Plan?

Wasn't sure where to post this really

I live in the UK during the summer/xmas and I've had a T-Mobile contract phone for the past couple of years. I pay about £26 a month, not sure what exactly I get for that but it generally covers what I need. The contract finished a couple month back (rolling contract now I presume) and I was thinking I'd be better off cancelling it and moving to a contract in Ireland, since I spend more of the year there. Up till now I just used a Meteor pre-pay (PAYG) sim.

I don't want to be paying more than the £26/€30 I currently do but looking at the price plans, they all seem a bit lame and looks like I'd be better off staying on prepay. They just don't seem competitive at all. Vodafone offer 100 mins and 100 texts with 30c/11c respective rates while O2 offer 175mins and 100 texts at 25c/10c. Why would you ever chose Vodafone?!

Meteor then offer 200 mins and free Meteor calls & texts for €25.

Thing is, I hate talking on the phone so I generally use texts far more, and these days you can't tell who's on what network (not all the 085s are still Meteor etc).

It seems I'm better off paying €20 a month top-up and getting my unlimited free any-network texts. Strange that, I always thought you got better deals on contracts... am I not looking in the right places or are the networks just offering rubbish plans?

Yeah but sending texts off the internet sort of defeats the point of having a mobile. Unless you mean going on the internet with the phone... still, you can only send pretty short texts on Meteor.ie and it's a lot of palava seeing as I mainly use my phone when I'm on the batter.

It's not an axe it's a hammer and its name is Mjolnir. Anyway I've had it a while now.

    ...and we're in Mobiles.

Thats pretty much it, and if you dont want to talk its probably the way to go.

Three best of both might suit you, €25 for 100 mins and unlimited any network texts.

http://www.three.ie/priceplans/best_of_both.htm - they get a lot of bad press due to service and results on fixing problems normally handset related.
