have a plaster type ceiling rose in main room for past 15 years, the whole thing fell off last night for no apperant reason, only the wires from the light fitting are preventing it from falling. Q; how do i reattatch it to the ceiling,it loks like it was held in place by plaster blobs, any advice appreciated.

Yes, your talking about the white plaster rose yes! No more nails will do the job but by a strange irony you will need to hold it in place while it sticks. PAper tape will do this.

Bear in mind though its a plaster job to take it down.

yep after no more nails you will be taking down more than the rose.

half the ceiling will come with it too.

the thing is make sure there is no loose plaster or dust. as the no more nails wont adhere properly

You could use a few drywall screws to keep the rose in place while the glue goes off, remove when dry and fill the holes.
