Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Got this in an email from MyMemory.co.uk
64GB SD Card (SDXC) Unveiled by Toshiba

Toshiba has announced the world's first 64GB SD XC memory card.

Toshiba announced the launch of the world's first 64GB SDXC Memory Card with the world's fastest data transfer rate. Toshiba are due to send out samples to manufacturers in November. But the rest of us will have to wait until spring next year before we see them on the shelves.

The new SDXC (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity) Memory Cards are the world's first memory cards compliant with the SD Memory Card Standard Ver. 3.00, UHS104, which brings a new level of ultra-fast read and write speeds to NAND flash based memory cards. And we could see the SDXC memory cards with a capacity of 2TB, or 2,000GB, but that's most likely some years off.

SDXC cards won't work with existing SD-compatible devices, as SDXC uses Microsoft's proprietary exFAT file system. This means the cards won't be recognised by your current camera or digital device.

So far there have been no news on SDXC compatible devices, but hopefully we should see some announced early next year.

more images lost in one go!

    ^^^^^^^^ almost serious.

Being serious - what is the application or is it the solution waiting to solve a problem.

Until we are dealing with multiples of what is presently available in megapixels - and the technology gets good enough to actually benefit from more megapixels, will it not be a bit of a waste - yes, you mightn't have to change your card or download it from January to December but thus revert to my opening line.

Should you really be storing your images if they are valuable to you on anything more than 4GB or 8GB.

I loved my 64MB XD Card on my old Fuji bridge. I could get hundreds of image on that :)

I don't use anything bigger than a 4GB card for that reason. I can see it having more application for HD Video rather than single images.

It does not seem that long ago that I was amazed that they could fit 10MB in a Hard Drive which was only the size of two 360Kb Floppy Drives.
