I'm looking for suggestions on setting up a focus group of 3rd level students. Any idea on the best approach? It will be in Dublin. Should I just contact USIT? Or, for example, UCD student union?

    Cheers!

Assuming you mean FTF focus group (not online) best approaches are:

    - use a moderator / facilitator experienced in focus groups
    - prepare questions carefully with objectives in mind. take input from moderator
    - use participants directly representative of the mix of your target market
    - small groups say 4-6 . repeat say 3 times
    - observe remotely from a viewing room or webcam with your peers
    - record on video/dvd
    - perhaps opt for a written report from moderator /practinoer

    For set up:

    - any valuable practitioner has a call-up list of willing, catergorised and VETTED participants
    - only a handful conduct these regularly in Dublin
    - If of interest PM me. I can refer you to one
