Is there anyone on here that is importing American foods?

    Well mainly snacks & sweets?

I know there is a lot of talk about some shops and petrol stations doing American goods, but my G'friend said there was someone on here who was selling American stuff? possibly in the midlands?

I just was curious if there is a demand for such American products, I personally like root beer and butterfingers.

Hopefully there is if not I might look into importing some stuff myself.

Would there be much interest and what type of snacks & sweets would people be interested in?

    Many thanks.

How interested would you be in buying American Foods? 102 votes

A lot of people here use ebay to get their american fix. I do vaguely remember a thread where a guy was asking opinions about setting up a business selling American food, but it was a long time ago afaik.

If you decide to start something, please import peanut butter M&Ms!

    And Lucky Charms!

Not sure about the Butterfingers, but you can get Rootbeer in Asia Market on Drury Street in Dublin. I am always looking for Roasted and Salted sunflower seed. American brands as opposed to the ones you can find from Spain and Cypress in asian food markets.

    And Lucky Charms!

I'm pretty sure you can get them in Fallon & Byrne in Dublin. They're about €10 a box though.

there is another thread running at the moment on boards (I can't remember the forum but search boards for "red square") where a fella was talking about a business called drop shipping, ie he buys from vendors abroad (IT & audio equip in his case) and gets it shipped straight to the customer, He doesn't need to keep stock on a shelf but as he is a regular customer with the vendor(s) i presume he gets discounts part of which are passed onto the customer.Would you set up a business like that?

I know a lot of people around Cork would have worked in the States or are Americans over here for a while working in the Pharma industry, you would might get a large interest in the idea from a small geographical area if you advertised down here.

    Thanks to all.

Quietsailor, that would be something I'd look into. I basically want to see if there is a market and interest on boards first and then I'll try to get something started.

As regards the Lucky Charms, that is something that I find ridiculous, and Im hoping if I get things going, that I can make products affordable, and have a good range of products.

    :)

Ah but these are pretty much everywhere now. (Well, a LOT of places anyway.) Along with Nutrageous bars. But it's just the regular cups whereas I FAR prefer the miniature ones as there's a higher chocolate : peanut butter ratio :)

Yeah most of the Reese's are available in a good few shops now, well in Dublin anyway. I havent seen too many in Cork....but I havent been in all the shops down here.

It would be the other Snacks & sweets really, the ones not available over here.

I'll put up a list of the products wanted so far tomorrow.

    Keep the ideas coming.

    :)

    Take-Five bars!
    Quakers Chewy Granola Bars
    Miniature Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
    Kashi GOLEAN cereal
    Kellogg's Bran Buds cereal

But above all, if only there were a way, the fabulous flavours of Ben and Jerry's ice cream that they have over there that we don't. Just the chocolately ones. The non-chocolately ones I'm not a bit interested in :p

Not at all, never been there in my life :) I go between Dublin/Galway/Tipp.. bit of an inverted triangle thing going on!

But honestly keep an eye out! A hell of a lot of newsagents have them at the counter with all the other bars. I've also seen them in Topshop, you know where they put some sweets and bits on stands up near the cash desk.

Cherry flavoured anything. I love Cherry flavour, there is not enough of it here and loads in the States. Blueberry too.

Nice site but the shipping is insane, $30 for a box of poptarts!

    For "FIRE"

    Peanutbutter M&M's
    Twinkies
    Cherry or watermelon, anything...
    Mountain Dew

That site is great alright, but I wanna try offer individual bars instead of cases. And REALLY cut down on shipping costs for people.:)
