What is an adequate height above the fuel intake port of the burner to have the outlet from the oil tank.My plumber recommends 1200mm.This is to ensure strong flow at low levels and prevent airlocks etc. This will necessitate some extra structure to fill the damn thing.

Ied say your plumber is right 1200mm should be enough. I havent seen them much higher than that.

    Is there a max level?
I was thinking of putting the oil tank at the back of the site in my steel container/ shed - which would be approx 3.5m higher than the burner.

Ask the people who make the burner: I would imagine its not an issue but ask just in case.

for what sounds like a long run, you might lay a larger pipe

Use a Tigerloop costs about €50 it eliminates the need to have your oil tank higher than your oil boiler .

+1, using one of these for 15 years without issue. It even self primes if your tank accidentally runs dry

the bottom of my tank is 500mm above the burner connection. I've not had any problems with it.

Yeah mine is something similar - probably more like 300mm and never had any bother.

Thanks for the replys. Talked with plumber , tank will be 600mm above ffl with tigerloop. The 600mm is predominately to allow for concreting of area later.
