    Rene Cusack sell them fresh.
Inspect any lobster you purchase from them. I bought one two years ago
in their ennis shop and when i put it in the pot thousand 's of eggs floated to the top.Needless to say i couldn't eat it ,But it is also illegal to harvest them when they are carrying eggs.Even though i didn't cop it at the time of purchase ,but the one behind the counter should have seen it.

    Enjoy you'r meal.:D

Should be easy to see the eggs under the tail, also unless things have changed recently, if the female lobster has been caught and released before, there should be a v notch cut out of the end of the tail.

+1 on Rene Cusacks, but I'd advise to go to their main shop on St Alphonsus Street rather than the market one... I dunno, fish seems fresher there, although it is still extremely fresh in the market too! Might be paranoia! They've longer opening hours on a Sat too, til 5.30pm whereas the market one closes at 3 I think.

There's a nice fishmonger at the top of William street. Some great stuff in there, just go in early in the morning so you have the best choice.

Sadliers or Rene Cusack would be your best bet.

Is there a Rene Cusacks in Abbeyfeale anymore?

Lidl usually carry them frozen year round for about €6.99. They are small but tasty.

You really need to cook them alive.

Seabreeze on William street are really the best. They have a lobster tank with fresh live lobsters.

Lidl carry frozen Canadian lobster from time to time. Last time I bought them €6.99 each.

If you're "just trying" for the first time, you don't want to spend to much and hate them ;)

Hamptons have an ad in The Post it says; Lobster Bar, noon to midnight, 7 days a week €15.

No more detail than that

This thread got me remembering the Lobster Pot when it was around, those battered sausages were heaven after a night of drink.

Very strange question here, but do any of these places sell the lobsters live? I’m considering getting one as a budget strange pet.

I've never been to Rene Cusacks fish shop. Would they be any cheaper than buying fresh fish at the supermarket?

Don't try Rene Cusack's anyway...the food safety authority report on them was shocking reading.

Boxes and boxes of rotting fish in with fresh fish...Google it.

Wouldn't go near them after reading it

There's a shop in Nenagh that has them live.
    Quick enough run from Limerick.
Trying to remember the name of the shop-will let you know if I remember it.
    Please call him Pinchy.

Some species of Lobster require specialist habitats/tanks. I wouldn't call a lobster a budget pet and do your research first. They require a fairly large space too so the tank isn't going to be cheap. The ones you see in small tanks at restaurants won't cut it for a pet!
