Gift for a girls 21st

A good friend of mine is going to be 21 soon and naturally I want to get something for her to mark the occasion. The thing is I don't know what to get for her and she's going out with a guy too so I don't want to upstage him, wouldn't look too good. So with that small piece of information can anyone help me out? :o

Oh the best friend's 21st is always a pain.

I don't try go with what's traditional to get someone for such an occasion.
Try think of something that you two share in common and roll with that.
That's a bit vague, sorry.
