Following on from this thread, please welcome your first brave volunteer for our new 'In The Well' series of threads, OldGoat.

    *applause*

For those of you who are unsure of how this works, please read the thread I linked to above.

    A few rules:

    1. Keep questions limited to fashion/appearance issues
    2. No personal questions
    3. No discussion of the answers. Questions only and only OldGoat answers them.

If you want to add your name to the list you can do so in the thread linked to above.

I will leave this thread open for a couple of days.

So, my first (easy) question for OldGoat:

What is the one thing about your appearance that you have to check/perfect before you leave the house?

Who or what influences your style?

What item of clothing are you wearing constantly at the moment?

What's been your worst fashion mistake?

What do you spend the most money on - beauty/grooming products, clothes, shoes/bags/accessories?

    What's your favourite colour?

    2. Imagine you are forced to destroy your full wardrobe (incl shoe and accessories) but are allowed save a small case worth....what essentials do you keep to ensure you remain stylish? (in other words...what is you essential capsule wardrobe if you HAD to pick?)
    3. Have you ever worn a hoodie and trainers in public while not excercising?
    4. If you had to pick a capsule wardrobe for youe ideal woman what would it consist of?
    5. Best piece of fashion advice you ever recieved or gave?

    Thanks in advance!

For those of ye who have never met me then heres a little linky to a pic. I know it's not required for this In The Well thing but it might answer a few of those unasked questions.
    Now, onwards and upwards:

Easy my arse! I have to check everything from top to toe however it's my moustache that always gets the last bit of attention. Before I grew the 'tash it would have been my necktie. I'm lucky enough not to have to worry about wearing makeup or having my hair styled anymore.

    Woohooo, one down. Next!

I had an uncle, a proper dapper gent (bent as a 3 shilling note) but always a gentleman. He stood head and shoulders above the rest of my family, was always dressed impeciably, generous, courtious and convivial. He showed me that you didn't have to run with the pack and I'll always be thankful for that.
My own tastes run to 1930-1950 styles, boxy shouldered suits, tapered trousers, gangster. I'd like to think Cary Grant but I'm shaped more like Edward G Robinson. Probably explains my love of cigars too. LOL
What item of clothing are you wearing constantly at the moment?
It's a weekday so I'm dressing down for work. Wearing chinos and a dogstooth jacket that I found in a charityshop. The jacket is a bit Miami Vice but I love it.
What's been your worst fashion mistake?
Dreading this question. I've made so many. Arabian trousers ala Hammer Time comes to mind. A ****y brown velvet jacket was another screaming mistake. The purple mohican haircut was fun but way to much upkeep.
What do you spend the most money on - beauty/grooming products, clothes, shoes/bags/accessories?
Shirts. Suits and shoes are expensive but are made to last however shirts don't hold up so well. Collars and cuffs frey fairly quickly and I've never seen a repaired shirt that look right so I gotta buy more. My bulk of shirts come from TM Lewins for everyday wear but for those special shirts I'll get them made up and shipped to me. It's impossible to get quality 1940's shirts anywhere except by special order now. Thank the stars for online tailors.
    What's your favourite colour?
Sure you know yourself that as a man I only know primary colours. Shades like mauve and ochre just don't exist. My colour tastes change constantly, sometimes orange, lots of times I'm a fiend for green. Sad thing is that the colour that suits me best is...Grey. :(
There ya go Larianne, nice questions...including two that I had wanted to ask others so now I'll have to think up new ones:P

    1. Where/who did you learn about style from?
Observation initally. Sadly it's a little difficult as a boy to go around staring at other boys/mens clothes without provoking reactions. Girls are happy to chat about styles but boy are a bit more reserved and never ever complement eachother on apparence. [Shrug] It took me many decades to get past that but I eventually grew up. :) Later in life someone invented the interweb thingy and I was lucky enough to be working with computers at the time so I was around for the explosion of communication. Over the years some wonderful sites came into being, foremost amongst then (apart from the sales outlets) are The Fedora Lounge and Ask Andy. They helped answer everything I needed to know from how to polish shoes to how to choose a boutonniere.
    2. Imagine you are forced to destroy your full wardrobe (incl shoe and accessories) but are allowed save a small case worth....what essentials do you keep to ensure you remain stylish? (in other words...what is you essential capsule wardrobe if you HAD to pick?)
For men this is easy, it's all about the accessories. I could wear €5.00 tesco jeans and a plaid workshirt from Lidyl but if I'm wearing a good belt and a pair of Italian loafers then I'll be comfortable anywhere. Watch, glasses, cufflinks, tiepins, belts, braces, neckties, bowties. The thoughts of having to replace my entire wardrobe from scratch is actually very appealing. If only my wallet would take the pressure.
    3. Have you ever worn a hoodie and trainers in public while not excercising?
No. Did ya hear that SnowMonkey? :D
    4. If you had to pick a capsule wardrobe for youe ideal woman what would it consist of?
Ooooh dangerous question. I'm very lucky in that Mrs Goat thinks that I have an eye for ladies fashions were as if the truth be know I only point out items that I think she will look sexy in. So underwear for her is from What Katie Did for that vintage stuff, Honeytrap Boudouir for corsetery. I, like most men want a classy slut for a partner so on nights out she will dress in an evening gown, vintage if possible.
    5. Best piece of fashion advice you ever recieved or gave?
It was probably along the lines of "You don't have to dress like everyone else", don't be one of the sheeple.
    Thanks in advance!
    My pleasure.

    NEXT!
    What aftershave do you wear?
I changed aftershaves a few weeks ago. I was wearing Acqua de Parma (assoluta) but I got bored of the citrus fragerance, it seems to be everywhere I go these days. I made a change to something more musky, an older fragerence and I got a bottle of Dolce&Gabbana The One.
How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
As I mentioned earlier midweek I dress down for work so a shower and throw on clothes - half an hour. However, getting ready to go out for an event takes hours. It involves lots of gin, relaxing, shining shoes, pressing shirts, wet shaving, waxing the 'tache, more gin, lacing her corset...;-)
What item of clothing/product could you not live without??
Shoes. A pair of black patient Oxfords, a pair of brown brogues and a pair of oxblood loafers.
What current trend for women do you like at the moment??
Ahh. Neon treggings and uggs. Failing that I'm quite taken with Beth Ditto's line in Evans. I love that she makes larger women sexy. Theres some pieces in the new Arnotts outlet (Jervis centre Dublin) St. Martin, Danish fashion house. Great coats. But sadly I dislike most of the current crop of womens highstreet fashions. I can't wait for all the vivid colour print dresses to dissapear and a return to autumnal long skirts and boots.
What current trend for men do you like at the moment??
I love that suits and looking sharp are in vogue again and that men are realising that you don't have to shop in the highstreet. Can't wait for the deathknell for baseball caps, shapless grey tracksuits/leasure suits and football jersies. I know deep down that they'll never go away but I can wish. Looking forward to seeing hand knitted jumpers on men this year. Tweeds are magnificent but I'm not sure that highstreet will cater to them.
    Who is your favourite designer?
My current favourite designer is Guy Hills of Dashing Tweeds. He has created urban tweeds rather then country tweeds and he has even woven a flourescent thread into the warp to create a tweed cycling suit. Kudos! He uses 3 different Saville Row tailors to make up their suits using his fabric. (#If I were a rich man - di doo dididi dum#)
Favourite for women is probably Stella McCarthy, understated, well fitted and well made.
What do you make of Gok Wan??
Who? I've never watched him. I don't follow TV fashions. Actually I seldom turn on the TV at all. Lifes too short. :-)
What high street store is the best in terms of style IYO??
Can't answer this one TBH. I don't use the high street for clothes. I'll pop in to them occasionally when I'm looking for a belt or a tie but I'd not buy a suit there. There is never any difference in their styles. There is no distince River Island Style or Top Shop Style, they all merge into one mass of jeans and polo shirts. I guess the nearest to highstret that I frequent is Arnotts mens and Clearys mens (not boys) for trousers or tops. The majority of my purches are online or from independant clothes shops like Herrons, Lewins, Howlins, Copelands or from charity shops, boot fairs and vintage shops.
Really got me thinking on those questions Madam, thank you. :-)

    Phew.

    Great answers!

And now that you have put your photo up I can ask my next question knowing that everyone will get it.

Was Colonel Saunders (sp?) the inspiration behind your moustache or was it someone/something else? :D

Thanks for answering...it makes for a great read! A couple more if you would be so good...

How long have you had the 'tache? Is facial hair something you experiment with alot?

What do you think of men in eyeliner?

What extreme (ie punk, goth, gangsta' rap, drag) look would you secretly love to try for a day/night if you could go back to looking like yourself again the next morning with no hassle?

    Boxers, briefs, y-fronts?

Any photos of you with the purple mohican? :D

If you had to describe your style in one word, ONLY ONE, what would you say?

    I thought I looked more Sigmund Freudian.

Nope, never used him as an inspiration, never figured that so many people would harp on about the Sanders thing. There are differences in my facial hair and his growth, subtle but there anyway and probably only noticable to us beard&'tache growers. His beard is a goatee, mine is a bootstrap. Not clear to the untrained eye perhaps but plain as the hair on your face to those in the know. :)
The beard was an afterthought to the 'tache. I intended growing a handlebar and joining the handlebar club and while growing it I played around with various beard shapes, soul patch, boot strap, goatee, muttons. I always intended to shave the beard off when the 'tache is finished. (One of the rules of the handlebar club is no beards ). But I kinda like the beard, tugging on it gives me something to do with my hands while I ponder the great mysteries of the universe. I'm going to try growing it longer and narrower to try and get away from the Sanders references.

    giddybootz wrote: »

The current 'tache is about 8 months old. I grew a beard in my late teens to cover a shaving rash and I've always played around with it ever since. For most of the time I kept it trimmed very short but when baldness set in and I shaved my hair off I suddenly looked like Action Man (The original one with the beard not the new wussy Action man). Facial hair to a bald man is a wonder. It hides blemishes, reshapes the face, highlights the good qualities and tickles fancies.
What do you think of men in eyeliner?
Eyeliner is great on some men, used it myself on many occasions. A friend of mine was wearing some a few nights ago and had his nails painted. Mind you he was doing a stand up set in a club. :) I grew up through the Glam era and into punk so makeup on men seems perfectly normal to me.
What extreme (ie punk, goth, gangsta' rap, drag) look would you secretly love to try for a day/night if you could go back to looking like yourself again the next morning with no hassle?
LOL. I've done punk, goth, drag but no interest in rap. Can't stand the clothes. Also done victorian, rock (in spandex!), biker, new romantic, glam, edwardian...scary huh?
    Boxers, briefs, y-fronts?
    Commando...

    boxers really.

Any photos of you with the purple mohican? :D
Oh theres lots in existance, hotpress, nme, sounds, there was one in Vivian Westwoods shop on the Kings Road at one stage. If I dig up any I'll PM you. :o

You've made for fascinating reading OldGoat, thanks!
    I've done punk
there was one in Vivian Westwoods shop on the Kings Road at one stage.

Now that is especially fascinating. While it veers off fashion a tad, its still related I think: Where you living in London at the time? I love the look/style they had going on, don't suppose you ever met Mr. McLaren  Very interested in the history of the SEX boutique (which apparently had pieces from the Scum Manifesto on the walls!) I'm just interested in how your pic ended up there, and if you were knocking about I'd love to hear a bit about the fashion/scene of it all.

In London right now actually, strange. Hoping to swing down that part of the world on Thursday.

I didn't move to London till the punk thing had blown over sadly enough. My pic was just one of many torn from some newspaper article or gig photo that ended up on the wall. Nothing special at all, just another face in the crowd. Wonderful times though. It was facinating to watch the commercial world grab a hold of a youth movement and corrupt it so quickly.

You have to leave in the morning FOREVER! Where you're going has all the essentials, so what five items of clothing/accesories would you bring that are simply irreplaceable/hold meaning to you?

    Just 5? Meanie. :p
The thing here is that I really don't form attachments to clothing as I see it as purly functional. There is nothing in my wardrobe that I'd run back into a burning building for. Mrs. Goat on the otherhand would tear the legs off a cat if it would save her shoes. So, if you'll allow me to corrupt your quetion a little I'll list 5 essentials though not necessarly irreplacable.

1: A hat. I have a lot of hats to choose from but I think I'd grab the old battered rollup and stuff in yer pocket brown fedora. It's amongst my oldest hats and has been through the wars. It's been a football, blown under traffic, washed in beer and so on but it still lives very very comfortably on my head.
2: A tie I bought in Liberties for my wedding. We got married on the cheap (under £500 all in all :)) and the tie was one of the most expensive things we forked out on...that and a new pair of Doc Martins for me.
3: Cufflinks. I have gazillions of cufflinks, sadly most of then are now singles rather then pairs but I recently got a new pair from Australia, silver with blue stones, shiney and sparkly that just goes so well with my newest suit.
4: My bargan of the century, a pair of John Lobb shoes from a charity shop that actually fit for €6.00. Price included a jacket and a tie. They cost me €60 to get overhauled and fixed up. Shoe Porn. :D
5: A pair of tortise shell RayBans circa 1950 fitted with perscription lenses For driving or for playing golf these are indespensible and just are about the coolest things I have ever posessed.

Congrats on your 1000th post Twee. Drinks are on you. WooHoooooo

She went through her own transformations but not necessarly with me. I mean that she did punk etc at the same time I was going through that phase but we were living on different continents at the time. We didn't meet up till our late 20's.
Which was your favourite 'look/scene' and why?
My current style is always the favourite syle. :D
I loved punk because it was so cheap and in your face and anything goes. For a few years you could be fashionable at no cost. There was a huge creative surge at the time as people realised they could create their own look.
Just saw your request for the Burlesque forum....fantastic idea! (Can i put it in my sig for vote too please?)
Please do, the more support we can garner the beter the chance the forum will be created

No, I'm not a performer though I have ended up on the stge on a few occasions as a prop for others. :). I'm just a punter who has found a spiritual home amongst the other punters and performers. It's like coming home.
Thats not to say that I don't continiously work out acts and sketches in my head incase I ever work up the nerve. When we get the B&C forum up and running I'll tell you about somewhere that exists for first time performers nd wannabes.

You are given the chance to remove 5 offending items from fashion history...what 5 do you pick?

What is your least favourite currant trend you see on people?

    Stalker!!! :)
You are given the chance to remove 5 offending items from fashion history...what 5 do you pick?
From all of history? Huge scope there. Lets see...
1: Womens trousers, jeans, slacks etc.. Hey, hush up, it's MY wishlist. I'm not trying to be sexist or domineering but in all honesty, for me women do look better in skirts/dresses.
2: Narrow pointy mens shoes that curl up because they are ill fitting.
3: Leasure clothing worn as fashion rather then function.
4: Mutton tops...they were simply a horror to behold.
5: Not so much an item of clothing but a material. Polyester. [Shudder]

What is your least favourite currant trend you see on people?
Those big pluffy skirts that are gathered at the hem so that you look like you are walking around wearing a puffball around your hips. They reallly make me cringe.
Would you like to / do yoy / did you work in the fashion industry?
No, never have never will. I have no interest in designing for other people, it's hard enough getting what I want for me.
Having said that I am currently searching for a tailors course but there is only one available and thats in Cork, a bit too far of a commute for an hour a wkek. :-(
I'm kinda resigned now to doing <-< >-> a dressmakers course. :oI want to be able to make my own alterations and I want to start cutting my own patterns...thrift and all that jazz. :)

If you had unlimited funds, what are the top three things you would buy?

    Novella wrote: »

    Thank you, I appricate that.
What is the most amount of money you have ever spent on one item?
Suits. A bespoke suit can cost between €500 to €5000+. I've never paid out at the top end of the scale but I have pushed the boat out on occasions. I guess that on average I spend about €800 per suit about once a year.
If you had unlimited funds, what are the top three things you would buy?
1: Hand made shoes. Most shoemakers only goto a 'G' fitting wheres as I need an 'H' fitting. Even when they do make the shoe wide enough it's rarely in the style I want. Bespoke shoes would be magnificent.
2: Liposuction. I'm comfortable with my bulk but if I could magically, with no effort, suddenly lose 20kg I'd be a happy bunny.
3: A bit of bling. I've wanted to get a matching set of vintage pearl hatpin, tiepin and cufflinks. Note to self, check ebay...AGAIN.

    Hoi :)
Lurk here occasionally and have met OldGoat before. You definitely do stand out as an impeccably dressed gentleman with your own style. Very easy to see.

It's good to see people making their own choices and not following the group.
Was it a tough decision to make to dress differently?

It seems to me your style is ever changing, where do you think it will go next?

    Jewellery/accessories, are they necessary?

    Skinny jeans, opinions?

    Cheers :)

A hoi hoi to you too Will. Always a pleasure. (Aside: I got that tattoo done today, white ink. I bottled it when it came to cutting. :( Thanks again for the input.)
It's good to see people making their own choices and not following the group.
Was it a tough decision to make to dress differently?
Actually it was difficult. I am rather reserved, shy even and the thoughs of standing out in the crowd was scary to say the least. In my youth I tended to run with the sheep. When we were all punks I was a punk. When I worked with some bands I was a rocker. It was easy to hide in the background like that and slowly get comfortable with new people. Hoever there are only so many times I can listen to ACDC and eventually I have to cry out "Stop, enough, there is more to life then Judas Priest, I want to listen to Miles Davis!!!". It was then that I started to walk to the beat of a different drummer and with that first step I grew a new confidence. I guess it gets even easier as I get older to be myself and not worry about other peoples opinions of my tastes. People take me as they find me and I' happy that most people seem to like what they find. (Hubris thy name is Goat)
It seems to me your style is ever changing, where do you think it will go next?
I think I've settled. :-) My styles changes with the fashions and trends but I've outgrown being a fashionista and I have my own look, lets others follow me is my new attitude. However, I am quiet taken with the steampunk look and I may get a few neo-victorian bits & pieces. A top hat and a frock coat. Ummmmmmmmm.
    Jewellery/accessories, are they necessary?
Absoloutly! For a man it's ALL about the accessories. The choice in clothes for men is really rather limited in comparrison to wimminz and so you have to make the most of wht you have. An icky stripey nasty slimfit shirt from the hightstreet suddenly looks better when it's finished off with a quality tie or cufflinks. A watch is instant bling. Shoes, belts, glasses...all lift a drab outfit into something much more memorable. Goled rule though, never more the 7 points of interest, otherwise you look like a christmas tree. For me those points are inevitably glasses, necktie, pocket square, waistcoat, cufflinks, braces, shoes.
    Skinny jeans, opinions?
Fine for skinny people. Never ever, ever with boots or shoes or even hightops though. And never if you are over the age of...oh let's say 25.
I've always believed that jeans are a true anti-fashion garment, workclothes that were tough, druable comfortable to wear. I get mine in tesco for a fiver and bellylaugh at people spending €100's on namebrands.
    Cheers
Ta Will. See ya soon hopefully. I figure Tom Dunne need to have a Beers in his honour as soon as he gets into a taxi towards the airport. We need to know if we can survive a BGRH beers in his absense, humanity is relying on us.

The 7 points of interest, are these only clothing or can they be your own features also? Your tache springs to mind straight away :)

A personal view of mine was always to go for comfort over style, can a balance be found?

Any fashion tips for the 20 something males out there? :D

Favourite fabric and why and do you consider yourself to have a clothes fetish?

Good question! Damn you I don't know. LOL I would assume that if it's a part of you, like hair or teeth then it's not really an accessory. So I' afraid your earring counta as an accessory. Cavaet, if you gang a dozen ear-rings onto one ear that would still count as one. And remember Will that I are talking formal wear here really. The accessory count thing kinda goes out the window with jeans and a tshirt.
A personal view of mine was always to go for comfort over style, can a balance be found?
I agree that comfort is of the upmost importance but can be styled too. If it fits prperly then you can wear it all night long. Take a dress shirt for example. Most shops sell (grrrr) slimfit shirts, by chestsize. If I were to wear one of those things it would be tight, constricting and rub on the body. The collar would be too small and I'd get strangled trying to fasten the top button. But with a regular sized shirt body, measured by necksize I can fasten the button and wear a necktie or bowtie all night long. There are otherviews on comfortable clothing and wearing highheels or corsets tightlaced but thats for another day and probably in another forum. Don't think a chat on tightlacing will amuse the mods here.

I'm way too old for 20 somethings to take note of. From my lofty position on the age scale I KNOW that ye will all come around to my way of thining eventually. You will end up wearing cardigans and chinos. LOL I've said somewhere above to be indivudal if thats where you are happy and not to be led around by what others deem best for you. Style is always unique and not necessarly what fashios say it should be. Best advice to young'uns is to buy online, from Irish designers if ye can. There is something out there for everyone.

Love natural fabrics, silk, cotton, linen, leather, wool. I respect the place that manmade fibres have in the fashion world but I tend to go for a natural fibre first. I hae loads of Rayon aloha shirts just cos they are so wonderfully bright and a smack in the face on those cold dreary wet winters mornings on the Luas amongst the greys and blacks of the morning commuters. My favourite fabric at the moment is tweed. I mentioned in an earlier post some new designs of tweed by Guy Hills. I'd love to get a suit cut from some of those.
I've worn other fabrics too, pvc's, latex, spandex but that was as a much younger man. I can admire them on other people but I've outgrown them on myself. (Kicks the roll of bondage tape under the couch and outta sight)
Is this a fetish with me? I don't think so. I can appricate how clothes can be designed and worn in a sexually provocative way. I love the feel of a well fitted suit on me but it's just a suit of clothes. Clothing on other people does attract me, the sight of Mrs. Goat dressing or undressing is provocitive. I react to her frame of mind rather then to the clothes themselves. A corset on the bed has little attraction, a corset on a woman is stunning but it's all about the woman and not the corset.
    Did that make any sense?
Now get outta my head and fetch me a beer! <Ducking, running, laughing> :D

As a mid 20 something I'm definitely moving towards the serious, classic look whenever I can. From work to any serious occasion to nights out. I'm finding myself investing in good shoes, shirts, cuff links, suits, knee length coats, jumpers, belts and watches (yet to get a good one). I have yet to move away from jeans on a night out though!

I definitely agree accessories are vital. The difference you can make to any suit with good shoes, cuff links, shirt and tie are astonishing.

There was the magic word in what you said Sangre, Investment. Buying classic clothes of quality is an investment. They are clothes (with care and respect) that will last for years and stand the test of time.
    Look sharp. :)

On a note of looking sharp I saw a few Ska fans in town (Dublin) recently. Classic skinheads like this. One wearing cutoff jeans, braces and 18hole red docs. The other looking very sharp, peajacket, ben sherman shirt, bootlace necktie. Wonderful style.

    Whats your favorite colour???
I'm going through a bit of an orange phase at the moment. Over the last few weeks I've bought an orange(ish) shirt, tie and waistcoat. Not to go together mind you. :D Love green colours, all 40 of them. I've been toying with the idea of getting a mustard yellow and tourquise check jacket, just for giggles and seeing the expression of peoples faces. Grey, light grey is what I'll buy if I want to be sensible.

What colour/s do you tend to stay away from?

I noticed the lipo comment you made earlier...What are your thoughts on cosmetic surgery in general?

Do you think you will turn into an eccentric dresser like Lord Bath when you become an elderly goat? You know...patchwork suits, zebra print shirts etc. :D

I've yet to find a colour that I wouldn't wear. When I was in the flush of youth with my flowing red hair (garrrrgousness) I'd not wear red, orange or pink cos...well just bleahhhh! But now that my (remaining) hair has gone netural grey I'm not hobbled for choice anymore. Yet another bonus of going grey.
I noticed the lipo comment you made earlier...What are your thoughts on cosmetic surgery in general?
In general I'm against surgery simply for vanity purposes. My jibe about lippo was purly hypothetical. I have a friend who is a plastic surgeon and he is constantly being asked for consultations and requests for the most stupid procedures. I'm happy to say that he has never done a vanity surgury in his career. Where a real need exists then yes go get it done but if it's just to hoike yer tits up a bit then no I'd rather see 'em sag. Natural beauty appeals to me much more then artifice and I see beauty in the strangest of places. It's a bit like that Dove soap ad, with the differently beautiful, big, old, tall, small and so on. I love that. The closest I'd come to changing myself would be teeth whitening, or perhaps laser surgery for my eyes...but I guess thats opening the door a bit isn't it? :-)

I don't concider that excentric so I guess I'm already there LOL. I'm really not that outragious at all. I might startle a few people with a hibiscus print aloha shirt when they are all in work suits or visa versa I'll wear a suit out to a barbque.

Thanks OldGoat. You're a fascinating character alright, really enjoyed reading through this.

*Can we sticky 'em in future? I just came in the door from London and went "Sh/t, what did he say that they actually deleted the thread?" :pac:

The thread with the list in it is stickied so I will put a link to the latest thread in that thread so you can find it easily. There are too many stickys at the moment.

This thread will be open until Sunday or Monday in case anyone has any more questions for OldGoat. :)

OG, is there anything about the fashion world in general and gender steriotypes in particular that irritates you?

Thanks, glad you asked that. I get narked by the attitudes of young men in particular (but not exclusively) towards being stylish or fashionable. For example even in this forum one of the most frequent posts from men starts "I'm a man but I need the ladies help...", "Would you ladies date a man that....", Wearing pink is ga...". Indivudaly young men are very consious of their image (even if I abhore what they are wearing) but in public they would rather cut off their nose to spite their faces. If I pass comment on a mans attire I risk a smack in the mouth for being a perve.

The fashion houses don't really help by broadcasting images of men as waifs, androgonious and etherial. It's bad enough that they use size Zero women as models but now using size Zero men too? It would be laughable if it wernt so fuking irritating. Fat bald men can be stylish too.

So, get out of the fashion closet wardrobe and talk to men about what they wear.

And above all please don't fall into the trap of believing that only women can choose clothes for men. Women style women very well but they DON'T dress men well at all. Thats a generalisation I know but it's a very very broad generalisation.

Sorry, bit of a rant there. Will try to edit it into something less ambigious.
