Each to their own, and I suppose I run the risk of getting flamed for asking, but could someone recommend a James Last CD? Maybe a "best of" or "greatest hits".

Just watched a show on on BBC4 and I had forgotten just upbeat his music is...

    Thanks folks,
    Muppet Man.

Sorry, can't remember any of James Last but do yourself a favour and watch and listen to Bert Kaempfert.

Yeah, there was a great Polydor compilation, This is Bert Kaempfert, which has probably been reissued on CD that would be a good place to start. Failing that, just get A Swingin' Safari.

I'm not sure how much James Last stuff has transferred onto CD in their original versions. If it's upbeat stuff you're looking for, there was an album called Make the Party Last (ho ho, save our sides) which was popular songs done in his inimitable style.
There's bound to be some authorative compilation out though. A cursory look on Amazon should throw up a few options. That BBC4 documentary was excellent actually.
