Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Guys - just wondering, how many of you (or your parents farm) are registered for VAT.
What are the pros and cons?
It's just that I was considering buying a commercial 4x4. If I was registered, I could claim back the VAT - right ??

i am registered for vat! i find it very handy as buying a jeep, tractor, tools you can claim the vat back. if you were think of signing up you be better off to be the person who buys stuff often or there not much point. as far as i no you cant just register and claim the vat back on your jeep and get out, you have to stay in it. the down fall is you will more than likely pay your accountant €1000 a year.

you can claim for the jeep wants you get a vat receipt which a private person cant give you.

It would never be worth registering just to buy a jeep, it's a long term commitment. There's loads of info on the Revenue site and you would definitely need to have a long chat with your accountant first.
