Can anyone recommend someone who will build a fitted kitchen from scratch? Is this a very expensive way to go compared with buying from a showroom and getting them to do it?

I fitted one myself with the help of my brother (a chippy) and it was easily worth the difference between the pricing (bout 1900 vs 2700).

If the carcass (basic is usually white/cream) doesn't match the doors - make sure you order the edging (iron on) tape so that the carcass isn't visible when the doors are closed. I know this sounds messy - but it really isn't. Makes a huge difference to the finished look.

Building a fitted kitchen from scratch is completely different from fitting one you bought somewhere and the price difference is significant. However quality should be better and there will be more flexibility in design.
