Sorry in advance mods if this should be in the Dublin City forum, feel free to move if you like

Basically, just got an email from a friend saying Major Toms in Dublin city centre (underneath Stephens Green shopping centre) has been turned into a metal bar, and more importantly all drinks are 3.50, huzzah! Anyone been in there since they turned it into a metal bar? Was thinking of heading in this weekend for a pint and to have a look and see what they have done with the place, just wondering if anyone has any first-hand info on it yet?

    Certain days or all week?

Sounds interesting, may have to check it out.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

E-mail didn't specify I'm afraid. Here's the text of it:

The Scene, located beside Stephen’s Green shopping centre, is a venue that has suffered a number of identity crises over the years. Its new incarnation is as a hardcore rock and metal venue. This latest rebranding move has seen cheesy chart music and r’n’b banished, but has also seen all drinks slashed to an impressive €3.50 (although splits are extra).

Was titled Major Toms: new metal bar, so I guess they have changed the name to The Scene now or something. Looks like it might be worth checking out either way though imo

Apparently it has gone into administration so not sure this will be the case for long unfortunately

    Hi,

Question! Are there any other Rock Bars in Dublin. I'm new to the area and would appreciate someone shouting out a few names.

    Thanks

Bruxelles for one (off Grafton street)
Also the Foggy Dew (to a much lesser extent) beside the central bank.

Dublin company wound up over €400,000 debt

THE HIGH Court has made an order winding up a company that operated a licensed premises at the Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre in Dublin, after hearing that the directors could not pay debts of more than €400,000.

Yesterday Mr Justice Iarfhlaith O’Neill made an order to wind up Belew Ltd, which operated Major Tom’s, on the South King Street side of the St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, after being informed that the company was insolvent and unable to pay its debts.

The judge appointed a liquidator and ordered the directors to submit a statement of affairs within 21 days.

The judge also granted the liquidator a number of orders, including one that would allow the company to trade until October 12th.
