Shop in Aldi or buy all the Dunne's own-brand food!.
Watch out for special offers in spar- sometimes they have 3 sausage rolls for €1 or special offers on other food.

Drink up at home and then don't spend much/any money on booze in the clubs.

Plenty of odd jobs out there. Check jobs.ie daily and nixers.com (very rarely different).

There's the odd few jobs on campus that come up from time to time but nothing that I would call regular.

€1100 should see you through semester 1 at least for spending money. €50-60 a week once food is covered goes quite a long way once you don't go over the top on drink etc.

€1100 should get you food and pay your bills as well.

Ulster bank usually have a free student overdraft of up to €650. Found this fairly useful. As long as you use the account regularly you have the overdraft until 4th year

AIB's is €1500, though one of your parents or an older sibling with a job will have to guarantee it.

Kept that quiet didn't they. AFAIK Ulster Bank has withdrawn the €650 for new accounts. I might be wrong. They clearly lost a fortune on it in UL as everyone opened an account specifically to get the overdraft.

Hmmm, I don't know if I would like to have a loan around my neck so soon. I'll just have to scrimp and save to keep fed and watered.

Alot of the shops (Dunnes, River Island, New Look, Schuh) in Limerick city will be looking for Christmas temps from early December so if you've nothing by late November it'd be worth throwing a few CVs in to those places.

Just might be a bit of trouble if you want to go home for Xmas.

I'm starting BBS with French as well. :) I'll be seeing ya. :p

I'm sure you'll find a job somewhere, I hope you're not running a car, that we will eat up your funds.

Myself, I'm staying at home, accomodation is too expensive and I only live about 10 minutes away.
