Balancing radiators

    If fitting TRV's to radiators do do you need to balance the radiators first or does it matter.

    Yes - you'll need to balance first. Balancing ensures that each rad gets a similar supply of hot water so that all rads will heat up at (more or less) the same rate.

    It's always a good idea to balance the radiators, but you don't necessarily have to do it before you fit the TRVs. For example on a new system with TRVs installed you can remove the head from the valves which leaves them fully open. Then use the lockshield valve to balance each one, and refit the heads when finished.
